Johshua West returns home to Cotter Creek after spending a year and a half in New York City. His family expects him to return to the family business, but he wants to think things over first and decide what he wants to do with his life. Joshua stops by to see an old friend and runs into Savannah Clarion stumbling away from the "suicide". Savannah claims things are rotten and that the "suicide" and "accidents" of local ranchers are actually murders. To get her off his back Joshua tells her he'll look at the files thinking it is nothing, but when someone takes a shot at them is it a killer or a psycho from his past in New York?
Loved both Joshua and Savannah. My interest is piqued with the West family and will need to track down the other books. I was able to figure out before the characters why these people were being killed, but since I didn't know who was behind it my interest was still held.
