New to me - I've never read Jim Butcher before
Harry Dresden is probably the only publicly practicing wizard out there with an ad in the phone book. Even so, money seems to be scarce and he needs a job. His sometime comsulting work for the Chicago PD just doesn't quite cut it.
So when a young woman comes to him for help in finding her husband, Harry gets a lot more than he bargained for. Especially when LT Murphy at the PD calls him in to help with a pair of grisly murders. As Harry investigates, he begins to find connections between the two cases they make him suspect that his client's missing husband is practicing sorcery of the most dangerous kind, and now he wants Harry dead.
I've been wanting to try this series for a long time and just never got around to it. I got a chance to review the audio of this one and decided to take the chance. I watched the TV show so I actually recognized this book from one of the episodes, though it was changed a bit to fit in the time frame alotted for the show. I love Harry and his acquaintences from all across the board between straitlaced and serious police detecitves to deadly vampires, a skull with an attitude and all manner of characters.

I liked this book, but then I didn't continue with the series. Don't know why. It's been years. Will you read the next in the series?
Harry Dresden
is perhaps my fave character of any series. He's my hero! Did you get the audio for review from that one place I'd seen on the internet?

Debbie - Yeah I do like Harry Dresden. Since I saw the TV show first I kept picturing Paul Blackthorne as Harry. And yes I got it fromt he place you told me about. I'm going to see if they'll let me continue reviewing the setries. If they haven't black listed me since I took so long to listen to it. LOL

I've been wanting to read
I've been wanting to read these books for awhile now, but haven't yet.
The great gift is the passion for reading. It is cheap [Hah! It most certainly is not!], it consoles, it distracts, it excites. It gives knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is moral illumination. ~ Elizabeth Hardwick
I started this
I started this series a few years ago and read the first two just haven't read anymore. I enjoyed them but there's just not enough time to read everything I want to.

Jo - I know what you mean.
Jo - I know what you mean. I've been wanting to read them forever too and if I hadn't managed to get a review copy I may still not have gotten around to it for a long time.
Deb - if you want to borrow the audio of it, even though you read it already, I can bring it next week. It's an MP3 CD so it's like 8 cds on one disc. I'm going to try to get the next one from them also.

I loved the TV show. And I've been debating on whether to read the books or not. (Like the rest of you, time might be my biggest problem.)
