Book 59 - Rogue Angel Book 6: The Lost Scrolls by Alex Archer

Annja Creed's latest job is as full of danger as always.

Ancient scrolls are uncovered in Alexandria that are beleived to hold vast knowledge about the lost contient of Atlantis. What is revealed on these scrools are secrets of Atlantian technology that would turn the world's energy concepts upside down.

EuroPetro does not want the information to get out since it would destroy their greedy energy empire and will do anything to stop that from happening, even if it means killing the entire team working on The Lost Scrols.

Annja's only allies are a fellow American TV Host, Tex,  for the network that broadcast's Annja's "Chasing History's Monsters" program and a young Polish girl, Yaja, who is a brilliant linguistics expert, if a little immature and hot headed. Their enemies chase them across Europe and Asia in a race against time to protect the scrolls.

I'm still loving this series but i think  need to take a break after this one. I don't know if it's becasue of listening to so many back to back or what, but it seems like the further along I go in the series, the more focus is put on blood and guts gun and sword fights. That part is starting to grate on me a bit so I think I'll take a breather and listen to one or two boks ot form teh series before I come back to this one.

The D2K Paranormal Junkies

This...

was my least favorite book in the series.

so is the violence eeming to

so is the violence eeming to get worse and worse actually ahppening or is it becasue I read so many back to back that it seems to be the case.

I've read...

them so spaced out that it's hard for me to judge.  But I'm reading another one right now by the same author as this one and his books do have a lot of violence in them.  I don't remember if the ones before it do.... I know Annja is trying NOT to use the sword so quickly but wow, there are a lot of dead/injured people in PROVENANCE at least.

I'm a little more...

than halfway through the audio of the first book and I have noticed one thing... At least in the first book, Annja uses a lot more humor than in the latter books.  I know I was irritated with the characterization of Annja in the last one I read, PROVENANCE, and now listening to this one so close to it, I can really see the difference in Annja's character.  So to me the real difference is that the humorous edge seems to be missing.....

SOw hat are you thinking of

SOw hat are you thinking of the audio so far? The sound effects are overpowering sometimes if you haven't come across that yet. In some scenes in teh books you can't even hear the dialogue since the effects are so loud.

maybe that's what is making the books seem darker and more violent as the series progresses. That oculd be the case if Annja is losing the lighter side to her character.

I also wish we'd see Roux and Garen a little more. I like those two - polar opposites. And I do have to say I am a little disappointed the Joan of Arc connection isn't explored more fully. The sword story is rehashed in every book but I had hoped from the premise of the series we'd hear more about Joan of Arc through the books.

The audio...

is really good although yeah, a little overpowering at times.  The Joan of Arc aspect isn't explored that much which is a shame but I've enjoyed all the other archaeological mysteries.  I have to admit, the sound effects of this one had me thinking more about the violence aspect since the effects made that stand out more.....

maybe that's why I noticed

maybe that's why I noticed it more thanyou did since all the ones I did were in audio and they do use a lot of effects in the fight scenes.

Sound effects

Yeah, the sound effects sort of shocked me with how much they emphasied the violence, esp. since I had just read one of the print books.
