The Book Bundling Game

My post is inspired by Kate's fun Reading Game last week (thanks, Kate!) and by the Bloggers Bundles released in the Harlequin eBook store earlier this month. I looked at those packs, thought what a cool idea, and wondered which theme and books I'd bundle together if given that chance.

Naturally, I chose Desires. And when I considered my very favourite Desires from days gone by, three featured sexy (and honourable and protective and sometimes out of their depth) single dads. Hence, my bundle is titled Desireable Dads.

1. Private Reasons by Justine Davis, Sil Desire 1994

2. The Notorious Groom by Caroline Cross, Sil Desire 1998

3. Her Forever Man by Leanne Banks, Sil Desire 2000

4. Beyond Control by Bronwyn Jameson, Sil Desire 2004 (and, yes, of course I had to include this one because I'm pretty sure it was subconsiously inspired by the aforementioned single dads.)

Anyone else want to play? The rules are simple.

1. Choose a theme or setting or character or storyline common to some of your favourite Harlequins. Name your bundle accordingly.
2. Select three or four books from, if you're like me, the scores on your keeper shelf which fit the theme.
3. Share your choices in the comments.

In the spirit of the game, my giveaway is a 3-book Desire pack from HM&B UK. Titled Irresistible Attraction it includes my Beyond Control and titles by Justine Davis and Suzanne Brockmann. One lucky commenter will be drawn as winner next weekend.

More fun!

Bron, I loved Beyond Control. In fact, I reread it recently! And I also loved Leanne's Her Forever Man - it's on my keeper shelf with its sequel, The Doctor Wore Spurs. (I didn't read the third one in that series... must go and see if they're in eBook yet...) I don't know the other two books you've listed. Will investigate while I'm looking for that other Leanne Banks book. Laughing

My bundle is for Desires (of course!) that are slightly left of centre in a very good way.

Marriage Terms, by Barbara Dunlop, Sil Desire, 06. This was fromThe Elliotts series, and it featured a divorced couple who were the parents of previous characters in the series. I loved that they were a little older than the usual hero and heroine, and I especially loved the writing.

Hot to the Touch, by Jennifer Greene, Sil Desire, 05. The heroine is a physiotherapist helping the hero who is a war veteran. When the book opens, the hero has crippling migraines and can't stand light or touch. He's also haunted by what he's seen in war and is very grumpy. His journey is fabulous, and the heroine is such fun to follow along.

Magnate's Make-Believe Mistress, by Bronwyn Jameson, Sil Des, 09. It opens with a scene between the hero and his horse, and has a cast of secondary characters that all deserve their own books (I know a couple have one planned, but, if you're listening, Bron, even Crash and the villian deserve a book each Wink).

Satin and a Scandalous Affair, by Jan Colley, Sil Des 08. This one made the list because of one scene where the hero is sitting in his home office, bidding at an auction via speakerphone and the heroine is sitting on his desk, sharing his tumbler of whiskey. I don't think the hero and heroine had even kissed at this point. Very hot. The story itself isn't left of centre, but that scene was like nothing I'd read before, so I had to include it.

Thanks for the game, Bron!

Fun!

I'm a huge fan of tough guys and babies, especially guys who didn't want to ever settle down and surprise babies. Probably my favorite theme out there. My bundle has tough cowboys, tycoon's and mercenaries who all crumble with a baby on the way, something they never thought they wanted. Let's call it Whoa Baby!

1. The Throw-Away Bride by Ann Major, Desire 2008

2. The Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress by Maya Banks, Desire 2009

3. A Convenient Proposition by Cindy Gerard, Desire 2006

4. The Winter Soldier by Diana Palmer, Desire 2001

What fun!!  I have the worst memory for titles!!  But I'm enjoying reading everyone's choices here.  And I like so many books from Desire, it would hard to choose.  Love Baby themes and cowboys.

Bold, Passionate, Heart-Stopping Heroes and ... always Real Good Men!

Hunka hunka burnin' love!

Sandra Hyatt's HAVING THE BILLIONAIRE'S BABY back cover says, "... one impulsive, passionate night in the arms of the hottest, most irresistible stranger she'd ever met."

Susan Mallery's THE SHEIK'S SECRET BRIDE back cover says, "... when sinfully handsome...."

BJ Daniels' SMOKIN' SIX-SHOOTER back cover says, "... handsome rancher...."

So ... all heroes are apparently hot (and when aren't they?) and I got to read about how hot they were on the back covers.

Sorry.  Best I could come up with, as first hero is a billionaire, second is a sheik, and third is a rancher.  One was a stranger who tumbled into bed immediately, one a childhood friend, and the other a stranger who didn't tumble into bed immediately.  I suppose each story had a little bit of a mystery to it (especially the latter, as it is an Intrigue), but they were all great reading....

Inventive Fun

Oh, I adore the inventive choices you are coming up with.  Whoa Baby, Left of Centre, Take Me Away and those Intriguing Hunks.  Smile   Great choices which have me wondering which titles I'd choose in those very same categories.  It's always fun to think about our favourite reads, the one we love to revisit and to recommend to others, isn't it?

Bron

How about Delectable

How about Delectable Debuts?

Desire Package

Having the Billionaire's Baby by Sandra Hyatt

Forgotten Marriage by Paula Roe

Black Widow Bride by Tessa Radley

Could do a mix and match of debuts by new and seasoned authors. I tend to like to go back and read debut novels from authors I like.

Abbi

Great game, Bron!

Alas, like Charlene, I'm terrible at remembering titles!!  But what fun it is to read everyone else's great ideas!

Maureen

Hunky Cowboys

One of my favorite things, Cowboys!

1. Texas Heat by Debbi Rawlins

2. The Texan's Diamond Bride by Teresa Hill

3.  Baby, You're Mine by Peggy Moreland

4. Seduction, Westmoreland Style by Brenda Jackson

More Bundles of Fun!

Delectable Debuts is a GREAT idea, Abbi.  I'm a big fan of first books -- have a lot of those on my keeper shelf including the three in yourt collection.

And how can you go wrong with Hunky Cowboys, Nicole, and Peggy's for Desire are just delicious!

Maureen, how about an awesome collection of Mmmmmmilitary Mmmmmmen by, Mmmmmaurren Child?  Wink

Bundling Game..................

I'm not terribly great at this type game but I'm enjoying reading everyone's suggestions.  I'm also going

to list all the different bundles, then I'll search for these books and read them as grouped.  It should

be fun to follow all the stories to see how closely they do fit together.

Pat Cochran

Pat!

What a cool idea, reading these books as a bundled set.  Would love to hear the result.  My set is older books so may be impossible to find but the others are more recent books.  Fun!

Bron

Oh yeah, military men!

Military men would definitely get my vote. Have to say I'm hopeless at this game but loving reading the titles so far!

Sucker

I'm a sucker for the theme collections here. Unlike the ebooks the theme collections sometimes can consist of 30+ books. Over the years I've gotten Marry Me, Cowboy, Greatest Texas Love Stories, Men Made in America, Mediterrean Nights etc right now debating to get Fabulous Fathers collection. I really like the fact that these collections are from all lines and reissues. It's fun to see how a book stood the test of time. off the top of my head Elizabeth Bevarly's The Temptation of Rory Monahan was in the Men Made in America collection as Indiana. I think that collection came out in 2006

Yvonne, Christa

Yvonne, perhaps yr collection would include some vintage Linda Howard?

Christa, I've never followed themes collections like that.  As a reader I tend to skip from genre to genre and theme to theme mising it up.  But then when I look at my keepers shelf I notice that I am drawn to certain themes in the end.  The American Men one sounds like fun -- is there a book for each state?

Bron

yup

a book per state. I was really happy to check of a Diana Palmer from my list. Her Love by Proxy was Illinois

Marriage On Their Mind

My bundle would include:

The Duke's Cinderella Bride by Carole Mortimer

Ransom Bride by Anne Herries

Rags-to-Riches Bride by Mary Nichols

They're all Harlequin Historicals.

Men Made In America

I'm going to have to check this out, Christa.  It really appeals to the geography geek in me.  I'm also interested in whether there's a downunder Desire state-by-state bundle to be made.  I shall investigate further.

Downunder Desirables 2...is that a hint???  Wink

Desires with Cowboy and Lady in the title

Tammy, I would buy this collection in less than eight seconds!   I adore the cowboy/lady dynamic and yet I don't know if I've read any of those books.   Looking at the authors, all I can say is great choices.

Bron

Marriage on their Mind

Cheryl, is there a common Cinderella theme with your choices as well?  I'm only looking at the titles but I'm a sucker for a rags-to-riches bride so this is another theme that would attract my attention.  Lovelovelove!

Down Memory Lane - Special Edition

Down Memory Lane Bundle

My bundle would have to be from the Special Edition line.  I grew up on Harlequin Presents and Silhouette Desire, but when the Special Edition lines debuts it excited me.  The books were longer that what I was accustomed too and there were wonderfully, emotional reads.  So my bundle would be my favorites from those first books.

  • Janet Dailey - Terms of Surrender
  • Billie Dougals - Search of A New Dawn
  • Sandra Stanford - Silver Mist
  • Linda Shaw - December's Wine (My absolute favorite)
  • Linda Howard - All That Glitters
  • Laura Hardy - Tears and Red Roses

Nostalgia Rules!

Wayne, you are a man after my own heart, choosing favourites that caused you to fall in love with a category line.  Wouldn't it be excellent if we could buy that bundle of older classics as an eBook bundle?
