Well, last night, my dh and daughter went to a game and left me with the dogs. Now, you think I'd mind, but I'm a huge fan of a quiet house. In addition to reading, I went ahead and made some Book Geeks Rock t-shirts. I'm buying one for my--well, follow our relationship here--my daughter's, boyfriend's niece, who invited me to the bookclub. I did them at Cafe Press and didn't put any mark-up on them. I know some of you said you were interested, so I'm posting the link.
Speaking of book geeks, it was a lovely evening here. Two dogs, one book...and me in a very quiet house!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi Holly
I knew your name sounded familiar to me, then I looked down from my chair and saw Hung Up on You at the top of my TBR pile. I own one of your books! Wow!
The shirt is cool. I will have to get one as i have always been kind of a geek!

Hi, Tammy!
Hi, Tammy! I hope you enjoy Hung Up On You! I loved working on that book. The relationship between the heroine, her mom and grandma made me laugh as I worked on it! And I was always a geek in school--the girl who had a new book in her hand on a daily basis--the t-shirt really speaks to me as well! LOL

Holly please define book geek
because I'm a readaholic, but I've always believed that's the best thing I could possibly be
A geek?
Moi?
Perish the thought
However I'm one of the most successful readaholics I know
If anyone knows someone who reads more than I do, please don't let me know, I'm not sure DH could cope with the shock

My dearest Gnat
You are DEFINITELY a book geek.

Nah, I'm not a book geek
I'm a readaholic, I mean I only read 882 books last year (not counting rereads)
Book geeks only read geeky or nerdy books
therefore
I'm not a book geek

I beg to differ with you
Book geeks are geeks about books. Geek has become a generic term to mean fanatic about something.

A rose by any other name...
I just came to take a break from cleaning kitchen cabinets out and found your posts, Sadhbh and Frenchie and I'm still RMAOLOL!!
I'm so sorry to inform you Sadhbh, that Frenchie's right. You can deny your book geekiness all you like. You can try to pretty it up by referring to it as readaholicness, but the truth is...you are a book geek. And Frenchie's very right with the definition. Someone who's a geek about books...and you, my friend, definitely are! LOL
Seriously, ladies, thanks for making my break so much fun! My dh is looking at me funny since I'm sitting and chuckling. But hey, he's used to it. LOL

I still maintain I'm not a book geek
because being addicted to something (readaholism) is not the same thing at all at all as being a fan of something
one is addiction, the other is choice
not the same thing
I could go through a disintoxication program to "cure" me
(but why would I want to?
)

Glad we made you laugh Holly
and what's worse
is we're not even trying
to be funny
I should be blogging my backlog, but I think I'll go to bed early with a good book (or two
)
Book geek
?
Me
?
Not on your nelly!
In fact the bit of your blog I found it difficult to identify with was the idea of sitting down with two dogs and only one book - something wrong with those figures

Making me laugh without even trying!!
Sadhbh,
Ah, but making someone laugh without even trying...now that's a true gift! LOL And I may only have one book, but there are a lot more just around the corner. And two dogs means I stay very warm!!

Book Geeks "R" Us
I love it Holly! Not only the t-shirt, but the name... and your wonderful, peaceful and PERFECT evening. Anytime that I can sit and read to my heart's content with no outside influences rates as *way up there* on the happiness meter!
Unlike our dear, in denial, Sadhbh, I fully agree with the "book geek" designation. I'm not afraid to be seen as a fan-atic of books and / or reading!
And Sadhbh, I loved what you said about your dh going into shock if you found someone that read more than you... you were my dh's shock last year... so nice to let him know that I'm by no means that original!
*sigh of relief*

Kathy,
Hey, I'm a true believer in owning your geek!! I'm glad you're not in denial as some people. (Holly coughs and descreetly points at Sadhbh.) Own your inner Book Geek!!
And it was truly a lovely night. I'm a hermit. Love my family, but do really need an occasional evening on my own!!
