I've finally managed to whip the first chapter of my Bites story into shape. All week I've struggled to rewrite that one chapter because when I got to reading it, it wasn't very romantic and had almost zero tension. It furthered the story along, but that was about all it did, and honestly I'm glad I caught this mess before I sent it to my crit partner - yeouch, it would've totally sucked for her to have to wade through what I'd originally written.
So it is actually cleaned up now, and I jetted it off to my crit partner via email tonight. In the morning I'll pull up chapter 2 and start the same treatment all over again. I'd hoped to have this book done and out of here by the 11th, but I'm not so sure that's going to happen. Ah, well....
Mainly I just wanted to ensure it reached an editor's desk before dreaded August - not dreaded necessarily because it's August (my bday is that month) - but because of that whole "Editor's done pick up a lot of books in August" thing. I kinda fear that, for some bizarre reason.
Anyway, it's coming slowly, but surely. I'm already starting to think forward to projects beyond this one, although there's no way I'm running straight into another project without spending a few days knocking down my TBR stack. Gotta keep the mind fresh, and the book gremlins from hiding/misplacing books I've been waiting for an opportunity to read.

Good to "see" you! I've been working on strengthening my Bite for if I get chosen for the Bite pitch. Got my fingers crossed. So, I feel for you! I went to bed the other night and thought "Auuuuuuugh! Not enough tension!!" so I've been going back through and adding some zing.
As for book gremlins, they live in my house too! I have Julie Miller's new book...went out and got it because I was totally sucked in by the cover...and now I can't find it! I know I bought it. I know it's here in my house. UGH!!
One might say it's because we have too many books, but to them I say "Pah! What do you know!? One can NEVER have too many books!"

Ha! So the evil book gremlins live at your house too. It's a conspiracy, I tell you. They must be taking them off and reading them, and just not bringing the books back. ;-)

I'm just going to do a straight submission with my Bite. I finally got that 1st chapter tip top, and my crit partner sent back my 2nd chapter last night. She's excited about it, I just hope it's sexy enough.
So today I've printed up chapter 3....here I go again. Wish me luck! I'm almost to the halfway point, but not quite. It's coming along slowly but surely; one of those things it just feels like it's soooo close, but still so far away.
