Books and building stuff

Merri's new desk I've been totally consumed this weekend (and Monday, a holiday) by assembling a new computer desk and file cabinet for my sweetie, Merri (aka Paisley).

Books were not completely put aside, though, I was playing the audio version of Silent In The Grave for many hours while sorting out numerous wood bits and all the screws and hardware that go into a big project like this. The new desk ensemble is a cool corner unit and gives us both more room to use our computers at the same time. My strange Italian-made, discontinued special price thing made of glass and metal is just to the left of her new one.

I'm really enjoying Silent In The Grave and am just starting the second half, it's a good historical mystery with a British reader that does all the various accents really well (Welsh, Yorkshire, Scottish, English upper-class). Almost done with an audio book about the Korean War that I've been listening to while commuting, so I'll finish the mystery for sure this week.

The other side

What no one can see is the other crazy cluttered side of the room filled with books, books in boxes, books in bins etc. My pre-TBR so to speak. It was quite interesting for me to hear the audiobook in the background when I was a good 190 pages into the print book. I am definitely not good enough at audiobooks to have been able to do this in audio but I might like to reread it in audio in the future.

Books as clutter....

I don't really consider books clutter.... Laughing

Laughter is an instant vacation- Milton Berle

almost like mine

that looks almost like my desk.

Differences: no shelf across top

shelves on side connected to top of desk so two  enclosed shelves on each side also on left is cd shelving

keyboard try that slides out

no file cabinet

mines black and wood.

But the chair looks the same

k found a picture of my desk

deskThis picture is a little older and doesn't have the new computer. The tower is horizontal so the monitor sits on top of it and monitor is bigger. Sorry about the glare on the left but that'sthe balcony window. I like that it is in the corner because my monitor has a big bum

RE: BOOKS AND BUILDING STUFF

Lord, you should see the old decrepit thing we call our computer desk! There is a real cool one at Wal-Mart I'm thinking of purchasing, then the boys can do whatever they want with this one. Tongue out

Christa - I'm LOL at your phrase

"the tower is horizontal"

you mean you don't remember that all computers were like that back before they made them "towers"

We still have some around the house (486s) because DH never throws anything out

I don't want to depress anyone with the untidy state of my house so
won't be posting any pictures of my computer or anything else Tongue out

Oh please do.  It will make

Oh please do.  It will make me feel better by comparison.  Or maybe not.  It's possible that I'm worse at housekeeping than you, since you have to be a minimum tidy since you have young kids.Innocent
