There is a small town newspaper which has a column called “Bricks and Bouquets”. I don’t feel like throwing bricks today but I really feel like throwing a few bouquets. Since Monday is Thanksgiving Day in Canada this is my way of giving thanks to a few of the people on this site. I will be back later to throw a few bricks. LOL
My first bouquet goes to Sadhbh. When I first started lurking on this site I could not believe the number of books she had read and reviewed. I was amazed to learn that she has a husband, two young sons and a job. She is also out there commenting on other reviews and blog posts and encouraging the rest of us . Thank you so much for just being you.
My next bouquet goes out to the authors who take the time to comment on a review of their books. Michele Dunaway commented on my second review. I was just awestruck. I know how busy most authors are but I have noticed quite a few do comment on reviews. Thanks for taking the time to make your readers feel special.
Bouquets to all my buddies and to anyone who has become somebody’s buddy on this site. To all of you who have commented on reviews and blogs. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.
Bouquets to Jayne and all the other Hosts. Thank you so much for keeping this huge site running relatively smooth.
Bouquets to the authors who run contests and give out free books on this and other sites. I know it is a way of promoting your book but not every author does this. Thanks from all of us who have won on your sites or blog posts.
Please feel free to add bouquets or bricks of your own to this post.
Happy Thanksgiving Day, Happy Columbus Day,
and Happy Reading Everyone

Bricks to the community search engine. At least it didn't freeze up my commputer but it took 10 minutes for results to show up.
Bouquets to Christa for her hint about reading a book while waiting for that little engine that should work faster.
Bricks to the fact that the comments I make on book review sites don't show up in my recent comment list.
Bouquets to Christa for telling me to add those sites to my favorites. This really only works Chirsta if I remember to do it.
Bricks to myself for forgetting Christa's good advice.
Bouquets to Paisley from me as well. I have enjoyed reading your reviews, your blog about ham radio and have empathized with all your pet blogs. Here's to the best for you and Glen Hilde and Buddha.

search engine
You know, I switched my browser to Firefox and now the search engine works perfectly fine. Before, when I was using Internet Explorer, I gave up using it. So I want a past brick for all that frustration!!

Bouquets to Kaelee
Bouquets to Kaelee who always has something good to say. I appreciate your comments around the site!
You really like it when authors comment on a review? I do it sometimes but I always feel like I'm butting in on a conversation without an invitation. Nice to know it's appreciated--at least by you! Maybe I'll get over feeling weird about it.
This is a great post. Happy Thanksgiving!

Bouquets to Ellen and the other authors
who comment on our blogs. I don't think any of us feel like you are butting into our conversations. It's great to hear about the writer's point of view. I didn't know how little input you had in your cover designs for example until one of the authors explained how it works. Which could lead to the next brick but I won't throw it now. I can also understand that you don't have time to go looking for the reviews to comment on them but I think it is nice once in a while to see an author comment on a review of her book or someone else's book. I had a great Thanksgiving. Thank you.

Covers...
...that's always a stressful moment--when I learn the covers are up somewhere like Amazon--should I look or just continue to hope it will all be well.
I don't have any issues commenting on blog posts like this one (obviously!), hee hee. It's only the reviews of my own books. You've inspired me to get over it, though. One more step on the path away from shy for me!
Cheers,
Ellen

Lovely Kaelee!
What a great concept. I'm fairly new here, and already, I love it (read: mildly addicted
). So bouquets to all of you, especially to Kaelee who was first respondent to my first blog. Thank you! E

Great bouquet Ellen! I agree.
Bricks!!! I just realized when I was reviewing 2 books today that Superromances have shrunk and SSE and HAR have shrunk also. I wonder what the authors of these lines feel about this? They are losing 30 to 50 pages per book. I hope that they got a lot of advance notice about the shrinking size.I think it would be totally frustrating to have cut down a book you have already written and maybe a big adjustment to write shorter stories as well. I may be wrong but thats my opinion.

I agree with that bouquet Christa.
Bouquets- To the techies who seem to have fixed the search engine. Yeah!
Ellen Too sent out a bouquet to the techies on the post about eHarlequin's new look as well. I wish to add that I agree with that one as well. As a completly non-computer savy person I really do appriciate all the hard work that goes into running a site like this.
Bouquets to authors who do booksingings.

Bouquets to all you readers because....
without you, there'd be no us writers, and I don't mean that facetiously, but sincerely. It's you readers out there who read, and you readers who read and then blog about what you've read, that keeps us in touch, aware of when we've succeeded, and when we've failed. You maybe don't realise this but very few people ever put pen to paper and write to us via HMB, so sometimes it can feel like we're writing in a vacuum, that once we've handed in our manuscripts, and our books are printed, they then disappear off the face of the earth. To have feedback - good, bad, indifferent - is manna to a writer's soul, so I'd like to give each and every one of you a bouquet of red roses, with a bit of heather tucked in for luck 'cos I'm Scottish, and tell you you're worth your weight in gold!
Maggie Kingsley
Thanks Maggie we appreciate your efforts.
Bouquets from all the readers to all the authors. I don't read every line but I appreciate the variety that's out there. I wish I could read faster when my TBR keeps growing.

Bricks!!!
This is probably long after the fact but I just realized that even though Harlequin NEXT is still listed in the book review selection bar it is no longer listed in the shopping bar. Has it been terminated? Rats! Just when I find something a bit different that I really like----Honest everyone I didn't wipe the line out. I think I did in Love and Laughter and Duets but I won't take responsibility for the demise of this one.
