Caine's Reckoning, by Sarah McCarty- Spice- 2007

Caibe Alla is a hardened Texas ranger, definately not the marrying kind. But when he rescues a kidnapped woman and returns her to town, the preacher calls in a favor. One caine's honor won't let him refuse.

From the moment he beds Desi, Caine knows turmoil will follow. Desi might have the face of a temptress, but she also has a will of iron and while she needs his protection, she's determined that no man will control her again. They establish an uneasy bond, but it isn't enough for Caine. He wants all Desi has to offer. He wants her screams, her moans, her demands...everything. Yet there's still a bounty on Desi's head, and keeping her sexually satisfied is proving easier than keeping her alive.

While i don't as a rule read erotica, I have made an exception for Lora Leighs novels...the stories are just to good to let the heat stop me.

Due to all the praise here for Sarah McCarty's novel, Caine's Reckoning, and my love for western romance and the fact i hadn't read one for a long time...i couldn't resist trying this novel. And I'm so glad i did, cause the story was excellent, and even though the sex was "hotter than haiti", i'm really looking forward to reading book#2, cause this story was also to good to let the heat stop me.  I have a hunch i'm being more and more desensitized to the heat of these the more i read them, cause the heat in this one didn't really bother me all that much, or make me cringe like it normally would.

I'm really hoping book#2 is Ali, the h's sisters story and hopefully Tracker. Anyone know?

Hi Tammy, and thanx, guess

Hi Tammy, and thanx, guess i'll just have to wait for the other twins story. I was so hoping i wouldn't have to wait though. I really want the twin out of there, poor thing. Yes, lol, i know it's fiction, but , you know what i mean, right. Laughing

Oh nice, i'm glad you have your mom with you now. Enjoy your visit with her. I'm sure it'll go by far to fast.

TC,

I'm so happy

I'm so happy that you read this story and didn't let the erotica genre keep you away.  The story was so wonderful.  I can't wait for Sam's Creed.

Sarah McCarty has some other historical westerns but they are published by Ellora's Cave and are very erotic.  I have read the first one and it was absolutely wonderful.  If your feeling daring, or maybe just need a McCarty fix before Sam's Creed is released, I'd suggest hunting them down.

Hi Jill, I'm really glad

Hi Jill, I'm really glad also that i didn't let the Spice/erotica genre stop me from this one. I'm not sure i could handle many Ellora's Cave ones though?  I'm reading one right now by Lora Leigh, Tempting The Beast(Feline Breeds#1), and my hair is literally smokin! Not to mention standing on end. Surprised Holy smokes it's ummm, the most explicit i've read yet. SurprisedSurprised '

But if i survive this story, and that's a big if, lol,  as well as enjoy it outside of that, i just may venture that way for very special authors stories.

Kathy D

If you're gonna make the venture

Lora Leigh is an entirely worthy author.  Plus, I think reading the beginning of her Breeds gave me a better feel for the books.  I still have to pick up some of the stragglers, all from Ellora's Cave, and once I am finished I plan on starting them over, this time in order.  It's such a good series and their struggles so heart breaking I love to see them persevere (sp?) and find someone.

Sarah McCarty's books for EC is the Promises series.  And I feel that they are a bit tame compared to Lora's stuff, but still I would consider them to be erotic.

After reading Elizabeth's

After reading Elizabeth's Wolf(and absolutely Loving this one), i bought several others of hers. I recently read Megan's Mark(very good), and then bought some more of her Breed series from her website(which happily are autographed), and am now reading my first of those, which is Tempting The Beast(#1) , and while i can tell i'll enjoy this story, to what extent i'm not sure yet.  I can say this though, what yummy H's she puts in her novels, they always seem to be alpha's with lots of heart. A perfect combination imo.

And thanx for the Promises recommend. I've added a couple to my wishlist so i don't forget this series, just in case.

I haven't had the chance to

I haven't had the chance to write a review on this one yet, but I loved this book - characters, storyline.. all of it. And well, Cain was just, um, so very very yummy. A fantastic read.

I also love Lora Leigh. A fellow paranormal lover gave me one of her breeds book to read. And that my friends, was my first dip into the waters of erotica! LOL. She is a great author - the breeds are great, but have you checked out the Bounded Hearts and August Brothers series? H-O-T!!!! Embarassed Can't even talk about it without blushing, LOL!

So far...

Hi Kathy,

I've been neglecting you!  It has been a long time since I stopped by to see what you are reading.

So far I have not ventured into the realm of Erotica!  This sounds like a good read.  I would not mind trying it.  I read Blaze which sometimes are so HOT I have to fan myself!!! Laughing  In my humble opinion you don't get desenistized to the sexual descriptions I think you just come to accept it along with the story.  I'm probably not stating that very well. There are some things that do make me uncomfortable but not often.  I like to think as I grow older that I'm still learning and some of that is accepting about some aspects of life.  When I do read I want there to be a good story and not just sexual content.  This book review sounds like there was a good story.

Take care, happy reading,

Hi Star, I'll be sure and

Hi Star, I'll be sure and watch for your review.I enjoyed getting to know everyone in this book as well, and Caine definately qualified as yummy.  I'm very glad i took the chance and bought it.

I'm still reading Lora Leighs Breed#1, and oh boy is there alot of sex in this one. "HOT" is an under statement! LOL  She's got a way with writing imho, that makes the sex not seem vulgar and dirty, so therefor much easier to handle,,,but by no means easy, Sealed Laughing

I haven't checked out Bounded Hearts, haven't heard of that one yet in fact...but i have heard of the August ones here, but they sounded like the sex got even more explicit, and if so, i'm sure they are way to hot for me. Embarassed But you never know...i have several others of hers to read before i run out., but when/if i do run out, i can always check those ones out. Thanx.Smile
