I think this third book in the changelings/Psy series is probably my favorite. Brenna Kincaid, the wolf changeling saved in the first book of the series, returns and learns to cope with and grow stronger from her ordeal. And the person she relies on most is Psy and rogue Arrow (assassin) for the Psy council, Judd Lauren. Along the way, the hunt is on for a traitor in the changeling world and a new Psy threat is uncovered.
Not only do I admire the strength and courage that Brenna displays despite her ordeal and her overprotective brothers and packmates, but also her tenacity in pursuing what she wants - independence, peace of mind, the career she was pursuing before the attack, and that arrogant Iceman of a Psy.
Judd rapidly became my favorite hero in this series. This will sound a little strange, but in some ways, he reminded me of Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. As the book progresses, we learn that Judd's Psy strength actually lies in the depth of his caring rather than in a lack of it. The more he cares, the colder he acts in an attempt to protect not only himself but those around him - and the person he most wants to protect is Brenna. Despite the physical and psychological risk to himself, he supports Brenna's struggle towards independence and healing as long as she does not put herself at risk along the way.
