To Catch a Highlander

The third in a series about the MacLean siblings who suffer under an ancient curse, this book deals with Dougal MacLean, a bored Highlander who won Sophia MacFarlane's home in a card game with her father.  Sophia and her father try to turn the beautifully restored home into a ramshackle place that no one would want.  Unfortunately, Dougal arrived unannounced and saw them bricking up the fireplace!  It was Sophia's intention to lure Dougal into a card game and win back the house; she is a better card sharp than her father.  Dougal goes along with the scheme until his paitence is pushed to the limit and a fierce thunderstorm ensues and they become lovers.  From then on, it's thunderstorms wherever Dougal goes and a dance between Sophia and himself.

As with the other two books in this series, the MacLeans are cursed with violent weather changes whenever they lose their temper.  They must do something worthy in each generation in order to break the curse.  I have enjoyed all three books.  Snow in the middle of April, thunderstorms out of nowhere and the smell of lilacs during a sudden rainstorm make these stories highly entertaining.  I hope to read more stories of the MacLean clan whose family tree is included in this book.  I give this book an A.Cool
