WHAT DO YOU ALL SEEM TO THINK OF THIS (I THINK THAT, FOR A FIRST ATTEMPT, IT WILL PROBABLY BE A"NOVELLETTE"). The title of the work is Charity Child. That's her name -- and also seems to be her lot in life. Charity was not used to running, playing, and cavorting, with the other mugs -- Charity was inside a lot: bathing, feeding, and in general, taking care of her invalid mother. Charity's biological father, Jerry Child, who also perceived himself as somewhat of a ladies' man, had taken off with the town Madame, Temptress Rivers, when Charity was only 4 -- leaving many hardships and times of backbreaking labour on a small, frail child and differently-abled mother.
Meanwhile, Mr. Marc Furguson, Edgewood's most elegible bachelor, and one of Edgewood's more (shall we say) 'financially-secure' citizens caught a glimpse of Charity as she was working with a troop of "Future Women of America" at a picnic table at a far end of the pavillion Grace Assembly had rented for the church picnic.....
