Murder. Obsession. Intrigue. And werewolves. This was a fantastic and believable tale of gut-wrenching proportions.
The setting: 1927, with memories of the Great War still fresh and unrest stirring in the east. When her son runs away to find his father in America, pure-blooded werewolf Gillian pursues him across the ocean and reunites with her lost lover, Ross. Scandal and suspicion dog the half-breed werewolf ex-cop, and he soon becomes embroiled in Gillian's world when he's taken to England to face her abusive, overbearing, werewolf-supremacist father at a gathering of pure-blooded werewolves bent on the preservation of their race.
All the major characters are fully fleshed out, complete with sweeping arcs and perfectly executed self-realizations. The action is well-paced, and the emotional investment is strong. I rarely enjoy werewolf tales, but this was a winner! Coming October 2008 from HQN Books.
