Commodore Hornblower

In this the 9th of series about  Commodore Horatio Hornblower  CS Forester makes the historic times real to readers. Now he has been promoted to Commodore and has the usual battles duing the war.Forester includes some of the bad and good times aboard a small ship with brackish undrinkable water requiring men to drink rum. The conditions are not comfortable and they are all far from families and communication for a long. Forester died in 1960 so is well aquatinted with modern life also but writes excellent historical novels. A believable writer of 11 in this series and many other books.  ..
