Cowboy Fling

I have an inside track on this story because Sherry James is my CP.  Innocent  But it's been a joy to watch her voice develop over the years and see her writing come into its own.  COWBOY FLING is her first book with Ellora's Cave, and my first eBook.  Yes, I read it in spurts as she was writing it, but this story is just a lot of steamy fun.   And the author's flair for romantic comedy with sizzle really comes out when you read it from p. 1 straight through to the end.

COWBOY FLING is the first of two stories featuring twin sisters, Paige and Dorie Hollister, who, as they near their 30th birthday without a steady man in their lives, put together a fish bowl filled with sexual fantasies.  Then they challenge each other to draw out three fantasies and go after them--there's a money bet involved for failing, but it's of little relevance as the story is more about taking charge of their lives and going after what they want.  Shy Paige wants a cowboy, so she packs up her dog and heads to Wyoming where she accidentally runs into Lane Hart.  From the moment she helps break up a fight he's in and tends his wounds (she's a nurse), the comedy and sizzle start.  Lane has some emotional baggage that hinder commitment, but he has no problem being a weekend fling.  And drawing shy Paige out of her shell is a challenge he relishes--plus, she's a willing pupil.  Of course, what starts out as a no-strings affair quickly turns into a relationship that neither wants to walk away from.  Will they honor their no-strings commitment or follow their hearts?  Well, if it didn't have a happy ending, I wouldn't love it.

I think fans of the Blaze line will definitely like this story.  It's steamy hot, but doesn't cross the line into erotica--it's definitely a romance.

Cowboy Fling

Wow, Julie!  Thanks for the great review of Cowboy Fling.Cool  It really was a fun book to write. And I truly valued your input along the way.  I love cowboys and the western lifestyle, so this book was a natural for me. And, Paige is really a lot like me. I'm more shy, practical, and reserved. And I do have my nose in a book a lot.  Ask my family!

It would be interesting, though, to see if I could take the fling plunge like she did--that is if I didn't already have a terrific husband and two kids! Would I have the guts? Hmm. I think cowboys are incredibly sexy and hot, soooo, it might not be too big a stretch for me. Maybe. I'll keep you guessing.

Right now I'm working on the sequel. Country Fling is Dorie's story. And I have to admit this story is proving to be a little tougher to write. Dorie is more flamboyent and impulsive, so unlike me, that it's a little bit of a challenge keeping her in character. Or should I say, more of a challenge for me, the writer, to push my envelope and help her be the character she is meant to be. I can't let her end up being too much like Paige on the surface. Yet, beneath her "let's party" attitude is a woman who is more like her twin than she realizes.

I hope Blaze readers will like Cowboy Fling, too. It truly is a hot, steamy romance. And I hope to someday soon be a Blaze author myself! I'd be in great company.
