Dark Fate by Charlotte Lamb (HP 1763)

Saskia Newlyn works a gardner in England but she's on vacation in Venice at the moment with her boss Jamie.  Only her real name is actually Saskia Alessandros - she took back her maiden name 2 years ago when she fled Italy and left her husband Domenico.  Now at the theatre with their tour group, she sees Domenico - and what's worse he sees her too.

Domenico doesn't quite understand why Saskia left him two years ago following their miscarriage although he knows it has something to do with his father, but Saskia remembers quite clearly when her father in law went crazy blaming her for killing his grandson and tried to strangle her.  She knew she had to leave and fast, just as now she knows it would be futile to run away again: Domenico is like the richest guy in Italy and could track her down.  Plus now he is able to read her mind (no seriously and this isn't a paranormal) like she always said she could do when they were married.  Domenico gets her and Jamie to his house palacial villa by offering their business the chance to design him a new rose garden, and he gets Saskia alone for a tour of the house where they quickly have reunion sex, before he announces that his father wants to appologize to Saskia so they will send Jamie back to the hotel after lunch and fly to Padua.  Only the helicopter that comes is armed with bad guys who shoot the bodyguards and kidnap Domenico!  Is he gone forever?  Can their telepathic link save him?  And if so how will Saskia get over her fear of the father in law and trying to have children again!

There are just so many crazy emotional plots going on in the book, that it's a bit too much for me; seriously, a 2 year estrangement, she doesn't like his bodyguards, she doesn't want to try for children, his father tried to kill her, all his friends and sisters (except 1) hated her and were bitchy and gossipy, they have a telepathic bond, AND the guy gets kidnapped?!  I also don't like how the book blurb on the back cover ends "Except that, in Domenico's eyes, a happy marriage should be completed with children..." which makes me feel that he's going to force her to get pregnant or something, whereas in the book one of the best parts is how Domenico doesn't need children or anything else as long as he has Saskia; as he says "Of course I wanted children, but I want you more.  If I have to choose between having children and having you, there's no contest."  Domenico is a good guy I gotta admit, and I think Saskia could grow on me, but this isn't the sort of book I need to reread.
