THE DARK TIDE by Andrew Gross

SYNOPSIS:  Life changed in an instant for Karen Friedman.  An explosion in New York has left her husband dead and Karen is left to cope with her grief while raising their two children.  But things aren't as they seem... on the same day as her husband, Charlie's, death, a hit and run accident leaves a young man dead, with a note leading Lieutenant Ty Hauck to Karen.  Ty isn't the only one asking questions, and Karen soon finds that the situation is escalating as everything she knows and everyone she loves may be at risk.  Can Karen and Ty uncover the truth?

MY THOUGHTS:  Wow, Andrew Gross has written a page turner for sure!  I had to resist sneaking a peek at the end to see how everything would turn out as Mr. Gross keeps the reader constantly on edge.  This is definitely one of those books you just can't put down once you start.

The character development was superb.  Karen's pain seemed so real that it was hard not to feel her pain.  Her grief rips through the pages and reaches into the soul of the reader.  Ty's pain is also very real, although not as recent and therefore not as searing.  Andrew Gross does a beautiful job at showing that time does ease grief although the scars that remain behind may always be there, just not as openly as when grief is fresh.

The storyline about money and the evil it can cause is as old as time itself.  However, Andrew Gross makes it seem fresh and smoothly makes ties to the current day events in a manner is both thought provoking.  As the story unfolds, Andrew Gross offers a glimpse of just how far some people will go... and it's a scary glimpse!

THE DARK TIDE is a superb thriller.  Andrew Gross offers up a thoroughly satisfying read!

Thanks

I'm just glad you recommended this one to me!

I'm looking forward

I'm looking forward to this one. I will listen to Blue Zone first. I'm listening to The Reincarnationist now (borrowed from Kelley) and having to really pay attention so it's kinda slow going.

Hmmmm.....

I'd wanted to read THE REINCARNATIONIST, too.  Hope it's not as slow as THRILLER!  But you'll enjoy THE DARK TIDE, I think!

Will let you know

Will let you know. I'm into the third CD now and I'm not very interested yet so we'll see.

Is that the one...

that has the character from her story in THRILLER?  Or am I totally confusing things?

Got me!

Got me! I don't remember but now that you mention it I do remember the author's name mentioned but don't remember the story at all.

What...

is the main character in the one you're listening to?  I've got the print version of THRILLER so I'll look it up and see.

Alice in the present and

Alice in the present and Alais in the past. There's also two brothers but have forgotten their names right now. Scratch what I previously wrote as that is the character in Labyrinth. I read some more and when I saw the names again, I thought you dummy. Theres a guy named Josh and I need to pay more attention.

LOL

I do that sometimes...

Okay, the short story was called The Portal and the therapist was Dr. Morgan Snow.  The main character was Lucy Delrey.  She's the one that went back to find the artist from her childhood.  Also, she's the one who specialized in destroying men....
