Desperado by Diana Palmer (Mira)

He is every inch the desperado. Tough, relentless, and a force to be reckoned with, Cord Romero lives for the adrenaline rush that comes with being a mercenary for hire. Risking his neck is all in a day's work. Having barely survived a murder attempt, Cord is looking for vengeance. But to get to his target, it means joining forces with Maggie Barton.

This one doesn't follow her classic template quite as much. I don't know quite how to word it, but it seemed like Maggie was more mature than her typical heroine and Cord didn't seem to believe that he owned the world. It was a good book and it like most Diana Palmers is going in my keeper pile.
