Charlie Asher is a normal beta guy living a careful and constant existence, until the day his daughter is born. Charlie's life is turned upside down with the death of his wife. All of a sudden Charlie sees people and things no one else can see.
People start dropping dead around him. Charlie has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant job but a very necessary one, Death. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
This was very strange but then his first book I read was kinda weird too. Strange, weird, and humorous at times. Rating: Pretty Good

A Dirty Job - but someone's gotta do it!
This was my first Christopher Moore book, and it wasn't my last. I loved this book. The qwerky characters, the strange goings on and poor Charlie - loosing the love of his life. A romance, not even on the scale. But if you love the strange, bizarre and the totally unbelievable (not to mention a few explicit "sex just for the sex" scenes) you'll love it. Moore brought to life each character, real and imaginary. It made me laugh out loud and sad when I finished the book because I wanted more Charlie and his wacky new family. And Moore's ending bowled me over - never saw it coming, blew my mind and was bloody fantastic. This man definitely left me wanting Moore, er, I mean more.
Yes, he's very strange
Yes, he's very strange but I did enjoy all the little critters and the hell hounds. My daughter really liked The Stupidest Angel by him. I think I liked this one a bit more than TSA. I have You Suck by him too. I really want Fluke and may break down and buy it new since I haven't seen it at the UBS where I found his others. Glad there's another person out there who enjoyed this. At first I wasn't sure if I'd like this one but the more I got into it the more I liked it and realized he wasn't slamming religion.

Hey Debkc3
Not read TSA, but looking for it. Practical Demon Keeping it a hoot, too. Read a few of Moore's books, but A Dirty Job is, in my humble opinion, the best. His neighbors, the hellhounds, the Morrigan, his shop helpers, unbelievable weird and funny. Glad too, to know I'm not alone in my appreciates of Moore's wacky wonderful sense of humor.
Susy will add Demon Keeping to
my list to look for. Thanks for the recomendation. I too enjoyed the Hell hounds, the Morrigans, and the other creatures in this one.
