Eat This Not That by David Zinczenko

This is a diet/health book.  I saw the author on Oprah and it looked interesting.  The book does have a ton of interesting facts, such as you save over 200 calories by eating a Big Mac over a Whopper with Cheese, that it is almost always less calories to get mashed potatoes and gravy than fries, that an egg mcmuffin is less calories and better for  you than the bagel and crème cheese.  However, the way the book is set up, with a page of eat this food and not that foods, sometimes is limiting.  It doesn’t always say why you shouldn’t eat something, just gives the calorie numbers.  I almost bought this book, but ended up getting it from the library and am glad.  The book does give me some things to think about (the fact that not one Ruby Tuesday burger is under 750 calories - ouch) and a couple ideas to change, but for me it is a one-time read, not a life-style change. Totals – 32 -21 Harlequin, 9 Non-Harlequin, 2 audio, 1 re-read                                         TBR Challenge – 8 out of 30                                                                                                          TBR2 Challenge – Books Acquired – 20 books, 20 books read, 10 library books (30 total print)

Jana - It is not a bad book

Jeannie & Jana - It is not a bad book and did give me some information, just not enough to make it worth the money.  Part of it for me is it includes a lot of restaurents we don't have and doesn't include a lot of them that we actually go to.  I would recommend browsing through it at Target or someplace, to see how helpful you would find it.

This book

Funny, I put it on hold at my library and I am going to pick it up tomorrow.  Won't read it for the challenge as I will most likely skim it and only read the parts I am interested in -

Is this by the shorter doctor with the glasses that comes on sometimes with Dr. Oz? I have always found what they say very interesting. About the food you eat making you younger. Something like that. Wow, that info on the different restaurants is really interesting and kind of scary. I'll have to take a look at this one from the library too.

Margie - This is by the editor of the magazine - Men's Health, so it is a bit oriented towards men.  I think it is a great library read, as you can get some stuff out of it, without laying out a lot of cash on it.  Let me know when you read it.
