One of the first things I heard on this audio was a disclaimer that times have changed and what was acceptable in 1982 may not be acceptable now. That made me curious. Listening to Joyce Bean tell the story, I could see why the disclaimer was there. We were definitely dealing with an alpha male (not one of my fav heros) among other things.
I did enjoy hearing about the little deaf girl, though. And about her actor father Drake. With my kids and I all actors, we could relate to him although we've never made the money he raked in.
The heroine, Lauri, is a teacher for the hearing impaired. She agrees to move in with the little girl and teach her the sign language of life. They look and act just like mother and daughter to the neighbors.
But Drake can't seem to forget his first wife, much to Lauri's chagrin.
