Another great read from an HR author I love
Lauren Seville and her husband Holden agreed not to have children when they got married so when she miraculously conceives, he wants nothing to do with the pregnancy and threatens divorce. Lauren packs her bags and leaves. When she stops by the side of the road to catch her breath, Gavin O'Donnell stops to see if she needs assistance. With no place to go, Lauren decides to rent the cottage on his land. The two can't help but form a friendship, but will her miraculous pregnancy lead to other unexpected results like ove and a real family? Does fate have a way of bringing together two people in a way can heals the past?
I am going to try to do short blogs to catch up on my blogging since I am so behind on everything after last week.
This is my third Harlequin Romance by Jackie Braun. Another winner. Lauren's husband Holden is a totla jerk...horrifying. Gavin makes a perfect contrast to him --- a wonderful hero! I enjoyed seeing Lauren discover him, and Gavin her....and it was so much fun to see Gavin put this jerk in his place too.
Gavin is one modern knight. If I did not already have subscription, I can say that after three books by this author, after this thirs read by her, she would be on my auto-buy list. I fall into the her settings and her characters. A very smooth read in terms of her narrative style yet powerfully emotional and dynamic conflicts. And a bit if suspense thanks to this Holden character. Very highly recommend. Rating: 5
The wine country book Moonlight and Roses was fantastic too. I am really getting surprised to see photos of some of my favorite HR authors. I think I sort of build a mental image of them from the book covers and then feel surprised when I see their photos. With ham radio I also build images up of people just from hearing their voices.... and then it is so wonderful to see what someone looks like after years sometimes of talking with them and knowing them. The one thing that always surprises me and which I always get wrong is hair color.

Yes. The heroine's ex is one big jerk --- a horrible man no two ways about it, but seeing jerks get their just desserts and good people winning is fun. Nice contrast between the two men.
I'm still getting to know your preferences in HR (a lot of fun actually). I'll have to email you later when I catch up on reviews where I don't have to worry about spoilers so much. April is a great month for great HR reads and I would be very hard pressed to make choices between any them. This month had a nice mix of familiar auto-buy authors for me (Liz Fielding and jackie Braun) and the others were totally new to me. Next month, I think all 6 are new to me.
