War-Zone correspondent photographer meets quiet, Shakespeare quoting heroine
Kendall York doesn't like risks, not after a car accident took away her fiance and her light step. Seeing her external scars, feeling her internal scars, Kendall is afraid to truly live. Hudson Bennington III, prep school achiever and famous war-zone correspondent catches a glimpse of what appears to him to be a mermaid when he comes home to his estate and pool to find Kendall has made herself quite at home. Not able to get her out of his mind, he makes her a proposal -- to help him type his memoirs. In such close proximity, will their hearts find a home in each other? Have Kendall and Hud found the one person that can release them from the nigtmares of their past or are their ambitions and dreams just too far apart?
Wonderful read. I really enjoyed Ally Blake's previous book, Billionaire on Her Doorstep, but I think I enjoyed this one more because although the hero and heroine do confront each other, the changes in them in her latest book seem to come from within. Yes, the pairing up of the hero and heroine starts some kind of chemistry, both physical and internal, but here the reader feels the inside changes come from within.
This book also gave me a lot of personal pleasure My undergrad majors were photography and literature. I have had times in my life where I just want to do things and try new things like going off to Haiti to build a house with a Habitat For Humanity group and other parts of me would be happy to live a more contemplative, solitary and literary life. At times seeing the hero and heroine was like looking at two sides of myself if that makes sense. I really enjoy a book when reading provokes a kind of self-awareness like that. I suppose all great reads do that in one way because books deal in timeless themes but the particulars of this one were very close to home. THis book was even a bit strange, from the Paisley cloth in the beginning to the hero's last name (the name of the undergrad college I attended). Now, I know these are coincidences, but it was fun. Do you like to see bits of yourself, especially on deeper levels, when reading a book.
Also...thanks for my first romance read when prep school was not used to portray a neglected kid. I actually felt like the hero could have been one of my classsmates.

a reading binge, trying to catch up with all sorts of reading. Doing

Glad...
you read a book where prep school didn't equate neglected kid! This one sounds interesting, especially looking at the different facets of a person.
And yes, sometimes I do see bits of myself when reading a book although generally I prefer my books to veer more towards fantasy. I had to laugh, though, at this question since I'm reading a book by Sunny right now where they find this "Wild Boy" (as they initially called him) and wouldn't you know his name is my last name!

Ally Blake's book was a lot of fun on many levels. Books can sure conjure up so many different worlds.
