A Family for the Children's Doctor by Dianne Drake

Caprice Bonaventura is a plastic surgeon and a single mother. She volunteers in Costa Rica with Operation Smiling Faces, an organization that repairs deformaties to children's faces. This is where she spends all her free time taking her 8 year old daughter, Isabella, with her. Isabella was born with a cleft lip and palate which is one of the reasons she does this work.

Adrian McCallan is a pediatric anesthesiologist who has volunteered to spend two weeks helping the organization. He has a 6 year old son, Sean, who has to stay home with his grandmother because Adrian can not take him out of the country without court approval (a condition of his divorce) and since this was an emergency trip he didn't have time to get one. Arriving in Costa Rica he learned that his ex-wife had taken his son and disapeared. He wanted to immediately return home to help search for him which made Caprice angry (he didn't explain to her why). His attorney finally convinces him it would be better to stay and honor his promise and allow others to search.

I would recommed this book to those who enjoy medical even though some readers might not like Adrian and his actions.
