Can a long standing feud have precedence over the present and future happiness of a Nurse and a NASCAR driver? It appears it might when the Lady is Sophia Grosso and the Man is Justin Murphy. The Grosso / Murphy feud has continued for several generations with many unanswered questions. What will it take to bring the two families together?
As teenagers Sophia shared a friendship and a first kiss with Justin, but family loyalty separated them and they’ve not spoken to each other in years, until a chance encounter with a not so happy fan at a Daytona club leaves Justin with an injured arm. Sophia quickly ushers Justin and their respective friends from the building to her car where she offers first aid, after which she faints in his arms. This beginning a new chapter their lives, the chapter where Justin and Sophia finally act on there long standing feelings for one another. Where they see each other in spite of their families, knowing that things might never change, hoping that being together is enough.
I was very impressed with the character of Justin. He should tremendous growth through the chapters and a respect for Sophia’s family even when they showed no respect for him. I think that is what tugged at me the most, how when it all came down to family loyalty, Justin tried to give Sophia a way out, though his methods left both heartbroken.
As Sophia realized Justin’s actions were brought about by family meddling and not a change in his feelings, she proceeded lay herself on the line and show her true emotions; emotions that were no longer content to stay in the background, but were shining as she escorts the man of her dreams to his race car.
Unanswered questions: 1. Who killed Connor Murphy? 2. Who killed Troy Murphy? 3. Who sent Kent the e mails? Anyone have an idea?????
This is a first time author for me and I was very impressed. I will definitely pick up another title!

I really liked this story too. And I agree - I'd like to know the answers to the mystery also. I hope they will be addressed in the next book ....

Favorite of the series
This is my favorite of the two in this series which I've read so far.... Maybe some answers will reveal themselves soon, but it looks like more mystery from the bits I've read about the next two....

Kate, I really enjoyed this book - I thought both Justin and Sophia were great characters. It was my first Marisa Carroll book, too, and like you I plan to buy more of hers.
