Found: A Father for her Child by Amy Andrews, HMR #335

Dana is the charming 4-year-old daughter of Carrie Douglas, bureaucratic MD. Charlie Wentworth is the doc who runs the drop-in center in the neediest neighborhood of Brisbane. Both Douglas women have also charmed him, much against his better judgment. Carrie's job is to assess the viability of Charlie's center. Charlie's job (beside the center) is to remind Carrie why she chose medicine in the first place.

I have been impressed with the caliber of writing in the HMRs as a whole. Some of the books have more medical bits in them and some have very little, but I really do enjoy the books that have quite a bit of blood and drama. (You can take the nurse out of the PICU and ER, but you can't take the need for that excitement out of the nurse.) It is clear that Andrews has a broad base of medical knowledge and she seamlessly weaves it into her story--nothing feels forced about it, or as if it is superimposed on top of her basic plot. This is an intense read on all levels.

There are some authors who can write smoking love-making scenes, but the authors who can write a prelude to a first kiss that is combustible has my deep admiration. Good thing when I was reading page 66 I was at the doctor's office and sitting 2 feet away from the sink. I thought the whole book was going up in flames...then I turned the page to Chapter 4...hot, hot, hot. It is not necessarily explicit writing that is the hottest (IMHO), it is the intense build up and Andrews has perfected this. Fast paced, intense book--thumbs up!

Amy Andrews

Nice blog! I am actually very squeamish in real life but I love these Meidcal romances.   I second what you say about the medicals and Amy Andrews. I loved your description of how she wries the steamy scenes...definitely how they feel.
