Hello, everyone!
Well, since it's my turn for our first Freebie Friday here at the Nocturne author blog and I don't have a release out yet, not to mention we've already had some great craft and book posts this week, I thought I'd go the *ahem* "inspiration" route and post some of my favorite hotties. But first, I'd like to introduce myself! My name is Meagan Hatfield and my dark paranormal dragon-shifter book, DRAGON FIRE, will be released by Nocturne next year! Yay!
Here is a quick blurb:
Declan Black is one of the last dragon lords. The vampire horde, ruled by their evil queen is on the verge of winning their century's long battle. When an item is discovered that when wielded against his dragon kind it can enslave or destroy them, Declan risks going into the bowels of the hordes catacomb hell to retrieve it. However, when he finds an angel in the shape of his enemy’s daughter, will he be able to resist the fire of lust she kindles within him? Or will he risk everything to quench the burning desire?
I hope you'll all keep an eye out for it!
Now, a lot of authors I know use images of celebrities, models or random people they find in magazines, as inspiration for their heroes and heroines. I am completely guilty of this. In fact, I have a corkboard wall in my office, overflowing with cut-outs, print-outs, post-it notes and sharpie'd reminders for all of the dragons and vampires in my latest series.
That said, 80% of the time I don't go looking for these pictures. Usually, I'll have the hero or heroine firmly set in my mind. Then one day, I'll be surfing the internet or flipping through a magazine at work...err, I mean at home...and go, "Ohmigosh, that's my hero!" promptly rip it out and nail it to my cork wall.
However, the other 20% of the time... Well, what can I say? *shrug* I'm a sucker for a pretty boy just like any other girl out there, and sometimes I already have it in my head that I want to use a certain celebrity or model as inspiration for a hero. I mean, how can one help it? There are so many great pictures across the web, movies and media. It's like Hotties-R-Us! But I'm not selfish. I'll share some my top five favorite hero inspiration pics with you.
And yes, they are in order.
Wentworth Miller:
Because no one ever made prison look so good
Hugh Jackman:
Because no one ever made the Oscar opening number so good.
Really. It was awesome!
Henry Cavill:
Because no one ever made Tudor England so dang sexy
Michael Fassbender:
Because no one ever made a demon look more heavenly
And last, but not least....Orlando Bloom:
Because no one else made Middle Earth look so...clean. I mean it! The elf never got dirty! I still have no idea how he managed that one...
So, those are my top five hottie pics for hero inspiration. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Do you have any favorites? Please feel free to share!
Until next time...I hope you all have a great weekend! Oh, and a huge shout-out to all you mom's out there! Happy Mother's Day!!

yummy
You have some good taste in eye-candy. I'm horrible at remembering names so my usual suggestion is Sean Connery (young or mature, just doesn't matter with him
). I know there are many others that make me take a nice long look when enter the scene but I'm never sure of their names.
And speaking about yummy, the blurb for your book definitely has me waiting not-so-patiently for it to hit the shelves. Dragons, YAY! Shapeshifter, YAY! Vampire Hordes and magical objects, more YAY! LOL The storyline sounds pretty darn good too.

Meagan,
Hugh Jackman is definitely on my list! I don't know most of the others, but Henry Cavill isn't looking too bad, either. My DD would be all over your selection of Orlando Bloom. He's her absolute favorite ever since the Lord of the Rings movies and including Pirates. She actually got to meet him when he was in our town filming "Elizabethtown", and she was the only one who got a hug from him. He was very personable and very down-to-earth. And if you like him and haven't seen Pirates of the Caribbean III, you need to, though my DD was just devastated. (You must watch it all the way to the end of the credits for the Easter egg, too.)

Re: yummy
Hi, ks!
Glad you enjoyed the view. *grin* Ooo, I adore Sean Connery. Good call. He's one of those men you don't even need to see...his voice is scrummy all on it's own.
Thanks so much about Dragon Fire! I'm really excited about this book, about being with Harlequin Nocturne and surrounded by so many fabulous authors. I love shifter stories and vampire stories, so combining the two seemed only naturally to me. I can't wait for it to come out. I guess we can wait not-so-patiently together. *smiles*
Thanks for dropping by! KIT and have a great weekend, doll!
*hugs*

Re: Meagan
Okay, I am SO jealous of your DD! An Orli hug would be total Meagan happiness!! *pouts* Well, there's still time...it could happen. ;-)
I saw and loved all of the Pirates movies. He did look extra delicious in POTC3. And too funny you mention the end. I had a few writer friends who warned me about the ending and told me if I saw it, I had to stay after the credits for the "happy" ending. lol! I waited for it come out on dvd I was so upset, and I still think the first of the trilogy was the better of the three. They were all fun though.
You know, I had no clue who Henry Cavill was until I started watching The Tudors on Showtime. Hubba, hubba. *wink*
Thanks for stopping by today, sweetie! I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day!!
*hugs*

Pirates
We agree about the first Pirates being the best of the three. The scene where Orlando finally gets to spend the night with Elizabeth and where he says that having one day every 10 years isn't so bad depending upon how you spend the day while he kisses up her thigh was pretty hot. After the trauma of the scene where he had his heart torn out, we had to stay for the happy ending in the Easter egg.

I completely agree with you
I completely agree with you on Orlando Bloom and Hugh Jackman. Another couple of hotties for me are baseball players Grady Sizemore and Melky Cabrera, they both have some cute dimples.
Re: Pirates
Ohmigoodness, yes! I love that scene.

Hey, Vivi!
I completely agree with you on those Supernatural boys. And Ryan Reynolds is great - loved him in Blade Trinity.

Hi Nicolerko!
I hear you on ball players. I don't know if it's the uniforms or what, but there are a lot of good looking guys out there. And I think Grady is really cute too. He sort of reminds me of Shia LaBeouf for some reason. ((shrug))
Thanks for stopping by and have a good one!

Blade Trin
OMG...seriously---Ryan R in that.
With the chains?
Uh.
And the snarkalicious mouth on him. I love the way he talks. He makes me nutty!
For the boys in my series I use a few model sites for good shots of them, then all of a sudden--watching Fringe Joshua Jackson just became one of my guys in the story.
*sigh* Something about him. That little beard thing he's sporting and those big, soulful eyes. Then the mouth. He knows how to deliver sarcasm baby.
Hmm.
Trend? LOL I do like myself a smart a$$.
Gerry Butler---DEFINITELY.
Orlando--Pirates more than LOTR.
But Viggo---LOTR...helloooooooooooo King scruffy! Gah! He's so delicious in that movie. Not so much in anything else for me. LOL
Jensen - Dean (Supernatural) Oh yeah. Nothing hotter than a guy with the necklace, the silver rings and again! Snarkville. LOL
Hmm. Oh...I'm a rocker girl too. Jon Bon Jovi, Chris Daughtry (Guyliner! Gah! Thick leather belts and tight jeans, jewelry on a man if it's big and chunky silver? Yeah. That'll do. Not the guido wear tho. Ick. LOL) Sully from Godsmack. Something about men and leather pants--rockstars only. LOL Regular Joe's just can't get away with it. LOL

Re: Blade Trin
Oh yes, it was Ryan R in those chains. Here's a visual reminder:
Yummy, huh?
I absolutely love Fringe! Joshua Jackson is ended up on my plot wall too. His little looks and sense of humor are so endearing. Yay - the finale is on tonight - can't wait to see what happens!
Oh, and I was the biggest Bon Jovi fan back in the day. At one concert, Jon jumped into the pit. Well, I reached out, grabbed his bicep and wouldn't let go until I got pushed back by security. I had Jon sweat on my hand and the first thing I did was smell. I remember he had a pretty delish scent on him. lol! Ah, the crazy things you do when you're young.
No prob about the hormones - LOL! Thanks about my book and for stopping by!
Hugs,

Definitely a Hottie
Rupert Penry Jones. British actor in his late 30s. (Not too young for me, right? Never mind he's married and is a continent away. LOL.)
If you don't know who he is, do a Google image search.
Absolutely YUMMY
And even though I was too young (really, I'm only 45) to watch Gary Cooper in his hey day, I have to add him. Cary Grant too. No one has *class* today, not in Hollywood, anyway.
I don't have a clue who most of today's "hotties" are, to be honest.
