Getting Lucky, 2003

Master Sargent Marine, Zachariah Taylor meets Lily Morrisette, a chef with a killer body, and then the fun begins!

When Zach finally reaches home after completing a mission in South America then traveling back to the states all he wants is to hit a bed and sleep!  Instead of being able to fall in to bed he finds petite, blonde Lily in his sisters house.  He immediately jumps to conclusions, proceeds to act like a jerk.  The first words out of his mouth wreck the illusion that he just might be her dream man come to life!

Zach gets upset (an understatement) when he finds out his little sister has gone on a trip with her fiance to meet his family.  He is certain that the fiancee, David, and Lily are both out to separate Glynnis from her inheritance.   Instead of taking time to find out more about Lily and/or the fiancee he heads to Washington state to save Glynnis from a broken heart.  Lily decides to tag along since she is between jobs as a corporate chef.  She has high hopes of getting Zach to see reason before they arrive in Washington.

After arriving at David's family home he is forced to admit David is not out for her money, his family lives on an estate on one of Puget Sound's islands.  It is very late at night when they arrive but Zach is determined to meet David and make sure Glynnis is okay.  The house is ablaze with light and he doesn't see anything wrong with knocking on the door late at night.  What Zach and Lily learn after going inside is not what either expected.  David's mother is hysterical since a note saying the couple had been kidnapped was found in the mail box.  She refuses to let anyone call the police or any authorities.  Zach immediately goes into Marine mode taking over the responsibility of finding the couple while capturing the kidnapper.

Lily takes over kitchen duties for the group at the house keeping people fed and keeping herself busy instead of just worrying about David and Glynnis.  Zach can't seem to keep his mind off of Lily and her lucious body while trying his best to make plans out of the chaos that he has found.  He is not at all happy that no one seems to care about Glynnis' safety.

Susan Anderson has a knack for writing an entertaining story, keeping the sexual tension between male and female building while making sure you can laugh despite uncertain circumstances.

LOL, Ok, now i may just have to watch for this book, if for no other reason than to read about this "duck, duck, goose" business.

Hi Kathy,

Have you read any of Susan Anderson's books?  I'm just getting ready to read the next connected book of hers!  The books can stand alone but they are connected.  I loved that comment "duck, duck, goose etc!".

Hope you have a good weekend. Smile

Hi Donna,

Thank goodness for my book program or i'd be lost, cause it says that yes, i did indeed read one of her books before, All Shook Up, and i gave it 3 stars.

I do remember trying to read her Shadow Dance, but for some reason i couldn't get into it, so i have it sitting with some other unfinished books. It's been quite awhile, so i can't remember anything about it anymore. Have you read this one? Maybe it was just my mood?

Kathy,

I just finished posting my thoughts on Hot & Bothered connected to Getting Lucky.  Hot & Bothered is one of my favorite Susan Andersen books.  I'm still chuckling about parts of it.  Now I am reading Coming Undone another book connected to these.  I'm really enjoying them.  I think I will track down some more of her backlist books.  She is a talent.  Her humor is wonderful!
