This is a memoir by Jeanette Walls. She describes how she grew up in poverty with very eccentric parents who refused to conform to what most think is a normal, responsible life. Because her parents often chose not to help themselves or their familiy, the Walls children often took on the parental role. Her tales are heartbreaking, and well as unbelievable. This book also raises interesting questions about poverty, and about people who live on the streets and how they got there. I would definitely recommend this book.
