The Great Bridal Escape by Bonnie Tucker
Harlequin Duets # 84 – September 2002

The fantasy dream Mary Kathryn O’Malley had the night before her wedding rehearsal was enough to scorch her sheets and play with her conscience. Marrying Seth was the right thing to do; they were colleagues, best friends and her parents were ecstatic with the match. Only Mary Kathryn couldn’t get her dream out of her mind, esp. as the man who featured had been faceless; could it have been Seth? Tony Donetti had known Cara from the day they both were born and had been placed side by side in the hospital nursery. It only made sense that their friendship could lead to a happy marriage, so he decided to give in to the pressure of their mothers and asked Cara to marry him. He was sure the passion would come in time. But that was mere minutes before he’d met his best friend Seth’s fiancée and the instantaneous spark they shared. No way was this beauty a Mary Kathryn she was a Kate and when he called her that he was entranced with the sparkle that lit her face, and then suddenly disappeared when Seth reminded him that she was Mary Kathryn. Kate was unhappy and Tony was not at all surprised that at the altar she just couldn’t say I do. He hadn’t bargained that she’d hide in his SUV and he’d been forced to take her to Houston. What Tony didn’t know was that the dream Kate had the night before was no longer faceless, he’d been the star!
Oh this was hilarious! I loved Tony and Kate. What a perfect match! Both are having feelings of guilt over their lustful thoughts for the other, esp. as Tony is engaged. He keeps telling himself that he’s pond scum and forces himself to picture Cara instead of Kate in his fantasies, which really doesn’t work. Kate so desperately wants Tony but she respects his pledge to another. I loved their internal dialogues and their witty banter. This one is laugh out loud hysterical with some delicious sizzle to delight!
