The Great Gatsby

Although I didn't think it'd be right to start off this challenge with a non-Harlequin book, I was already in the middle of it when I discovered this challenge.

So, yes a classic and yes, most may be shocked that I hadn't read it yet. Marketing students didn't read books like this and I didn't get back into reading until I finished school, so there's my somewhat excuseable excuse.

This book was a great, quick read. It took me a while to get into it as the language is completely different but once I got the hang of the wording, I was good to go. Once I got to the end of it, I wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. I don't know how many times I've said this but I'm going to say (errr...write) it again. Whenever I finish a book or a movie with a happy ending, I always say, "Why do the good guys have to win?" or "Why does this couple have to end up together?" or "Why can't there ever be an unhappy ending?!" Well, I got one this time and I'm not happy with it. I'm not supposed to be, right? Well, I didn't like how it ended, I wanted Gatsby to be happy with the love of his life and not dead!

I've decided to move away from the classics for my next book and read something a bit more modern with substance.

Until next time...stay classy book challengers.
