The Guilty

Justice is as fast as a bullet...

Blurb:

As I lie in bed with Amanda, ignoring another late-night call from my ex, a shot rings out in the New York night and a beautiful starlet dies outside the city’s most popular nightclub. This is the kind of story I was born to chase--but I never dreamed this story began over a hundred years ago…

Suddenly another life is taken, the bullet fired from one of the deadliest guns ever made. Both victims are highly controversial, their murders more like public executions. My search leads me into the twisted world of The Boy--a world defined by a demented code of honor and shocking, long-buried secrets of the world’s most famous outlaw.

When this assassin realizes I’m getting too close to the truth, uncovering the past could jeopardize everything I care about. Because in this world there’s a fine line between good and evil, and the difference between innocence and guilt depends on who’s holding the gun…

My thoughts:

WOW! I have to say I just love this man’s writing! Another winner with this book. Once again I was pulled right into this fast paced exciting novel. And of all things I have been very fascinated with the legend and stories of Billy the Kid and the stuff in this book was absolutely heaven for someone like me. His own twists and thoughts into the legends and so called myths was truly brilliant. Truly amazing really. It was also exciting and fun to once again visit with Henry Parker and his friends and enemies too. And we meet some new friends too. His arch rivalry with Pauline is quite interesting we first visited that in the first book and I guess in that kind of work those things occur there are always those who hate you for no real reason other than jealousy and their own insecurities. I’m sure the rivalry will really come to blows later on. I don’t want to put more without really revealing things but things with Amanda take a interesting turn. I have already marked this book as one of my top 10s for the year even though the next one is due in August so that could top this but the subject matter is big reason too. Can’t wait for more!!!

Mini-Challenge:  This hero more than fits the story.  This really isn't a romance while there is one going on that is not the main part of this story so whether they suit each other remains to be seen in the future.  Would he suit me? No way while he is a very interesting person I could not even go through that stress since he finds himself right in the middle of everything. The picture on the front really doesn't ever show a face so you have to be creative. I always picture sort of a adult version of Harry Potter for some reason probably the personality and his habit of finding himself in the middle of the happenings its weird really. But when I really sat and thought about it as for a real life actore portraying him I kind of thought about Tobey Maguire our Spiderman hero. I think he would make a perfect Henry Parker!

Sounds good . . .

Looks like another book I'll have to order.

You mentioned its a 2nd book.  Do I need to read them in order?  What's the first one called?

DFW Plus - Come see what we are reading!

Hey Sarah

I just got this one and I will be reading it soon along with Rogue by MS. Vincent!!  Sounds like this one is just as good as the first.

Sarah can tell you for sure if you need to read them in order, Amanda.  But if I had to guess I would say that you do as the main character in both books is Henry!

Jason is a new author and his first book made him an auto-buy for me.  So that should tell you...hey I'll get the first book anyway.  Everyone that I know in the book club have loved his writing so far.

MY BOOK REVIEWS

Hi Alias, Shelley:)

Alias, this book can stand alone but to get a better understanding of Henry Parker and his relationships in this book I would advice the first one which is called "The Mark"    They are both fast paced books and are very hard to put down so they make fairly fast reads.

Hi ShelleySmile I am very anxious to see what you think about this book. I am jealous of you getting "Rogue" I still need to get it I have to get caught up on my bills from last month before ordering it yetSurprised I have seen alot of good reviews for that book.
