Harlequin Launches TellHarlequin.com!

tell harlequin.JPG

Harlequin has just launched TellHarlequin.com, an online reader panel that invites romance readers from all channels to weigh in on a number of product-focused discussions and participate in research surveys. This initiative comes out of our Research Department and will compliment the social networking and reader conversations we've been hosting in our Community for many years now.

We know that engaging in on-going dialogue with our readers provides us with rich insights that will help guide the evolution of the series business. This new online reader panel gives us the ability to delve deeper into the insights and issues that we discover through our unique relationship with our most avid readers and follows a long-standing Harlequin tradition of reaching out to our readers and giving us the flexibility to conduct our focus groups online.

If you love to read romance, bring your passion to us! At www.TellHarlequin.com/eHqn, we are recruiting thousands of romance readers to be our online advisory panel. Panelists will participate in fun online surveys, voice their opinions on topics such as new miniseries ideas, new series concepts, cover designs and much more! Join today and with your input, we can continue to create the romances that keep you coming back for more.

I hope you take the time to visit the new site and sign up for what looks to be an exciting new program that we hope will enhance our relationship with current readers and bring new readers into the series franchise and help Harlequin continue to offer the best in women’s fiction.

RE: THE LAUNCHING OF TELLHARLEQUIN.COM

Many, Many thanks are due to Jayne, of eHarlequin, for the effort and work she is putting in on this.  A portion of Harlequin and Imprint readers believe (whether real or imagined) that their opinions, life-events, and surveys they complete will have no play regarding a character in a novel, or part of a story  line, etc.

Very much power to Jayne as she tries to rectify the problem.

Sounds interesting, Jayne

I'll check it out.  Wink

Jayne, I did sign up

I filled out a questionaire and now I am a Tell Harlequin Ambassabor.  I am looking forward to this program.

I posted a comment on the site

By the time I logged in there were already eight pages of comments so I read a few from the first pages and then just posted my own comment. I think there will probably be changes made in how they do their surveys. I like the fact that readers get a bit of input. I thought that the initial survey was gender biased towards the female reader.

I got invited to join but can't find out where. It may have been in literature with an order from Harlequin. I then filled out a survey which was gender biased at the time. Then I got another email asking me to comment on the forum. I tried and couldn't get on but the next day I got another email and managed to comment. Yes I read comments before I commented.Found it. It was an ad in the simply books magazine I signed up to get. Just go to  the web site Jayne has posted above.

I'm blushing...

Thanks for the vote of confidence Marty, but I was merely consulted from time to time by the Research Team as they prepared to launch this intiative...But, so you all know, the hosts round up comments from our community blogs and discussions on a weekly basis and forward them to me. It's a sort of top ten list of most discussed topics in Community, a snap shot if you will of what you are saying, thinking and feeling about Harlequin and our books. I then send out a report based on the host info and my own observations to a distribution list including the company VP's and also Donna Hayes our President and CEO.

Can't join!

That sounded like something I would love to do so went onto the website and got all excited at what I read.  However I can't join as I am outside North America.  I'm sure it has to do with the cost of sending books to readers in Europe but I would have thought there would be some way of making the books available as ebooks for those of us outside North America?

I hooked up with the site after another email

You've been invited to: tellharlequin.com

Welcome!

Thank you for signing up with the Tell Harlequin reader panel.  We’re delighted to have you as a member and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

As a member of Tell Harlequin you will be invited to participate in a number of online surveys and discussions.  Today, we would like to invite you to participate in our first online discussion spurred by a comment from one of our panelists about the characters in our books.

got email to confirmation on but still can not do anything there is there 2 confirmation one for password and another to do stuff?  well i went back to reread my email looks like it could take 24 before i can do anything so i guess i will see you guys in there.

My best friend is a person who will give me a book that i have not read yet.

Awesome idea

I saw the ad in Simply Books as well and filled out the questionnaire.  My first email to join a discussion didn't include the web address since the link didn't work.  BUT - I sent an email to tech support and they replied the next day with the links working!!!

I think this is a marvelous idea.  It proves Harlequin does care about its readers and, in the competitive book market, this is the best way to find out more what your readers are buying and why.  And what also might turn them away.  Way to go Harlequin!

Jayne - One question

What are the different levels?   All the other posts that I have read are in the Tell Harelquin Panel.  I got on the Tell Harlequin Ambassabors (I joined when I saw the ad in Simply Books too)  What is the difference and are their other levels?

Maybe this is some kind of glitches that the tech people are working on.  But it doesn't hurt to contact them as Ellen Too said.

Good luck, Christa.

A bit of confusion?

Hi everyone,

In reading your reactions to the launch of the TellHarlequin.com site, I thought it might help to clarify a couple of things. The TellHarlequin.com online panel will function as an online focus group and as such, members will be invited to discuss topics based on specific criteria.   The Ambassador Program is another linked initiative that has a separate mandate which is to recruit new readers for Harlequin by tapping into the connections of our most avid readers. The intent is different from what we have established here in our Community where our focus will continue to be on reader relationships and great conversation. We're not trying to duplicate the community at TellHarlequin because that just wouldn't make sense, we have a very healthy, thriving one here, we're just taking our research efforts online.

Hi Christa--I have the same issue you do. I sent an email to the suppport address. I'll post here if I find out any info.

This looks like a very cool program. I'm excited to start participating. I know exactly the kind of books I like to read--I'm hopeful I can begin demanding them at once. Wink

I couldn't either, and used the link in Kaelee's message a little way up here....

Confused

I am confused.  Maybe Jayne can clarify the following (Please):

1. Are there are 2 sites, with almost same setup: the TellHQ Panelist site's background color is Red; the TellHQ Ambassador site's background color is Purple?  I am in the Ambassador's site.  What are the differences between these 2 sites?

2. What are we suppose to do the Ambassador's site?

a) to reply to the Admin's Post of the main topic of discussion?

b) to reply to the other Posts?

c) to post a new one of the discussion topic?

3. What is the difference (if any) between being a panelist & an ambassador?

Thanks for your help, Jayne.

Hey Kaelee

How are ya?

Well, the pic is new but it's not significant for me personally.

I posted this pic as JR Ward's The Compendium is out soon and the picture represents Z, Bella, & Nalla.  Nalla of course will be born in The Compendium.

Thanks spgirls

I haven't read this series and probably won't.  It's a beautiful picture. You had been missing for a while and then you posted a few reviews. I was hoping all was well in Newfoundland.

I have the same problem as you do.  I see the same screen that comes up for you.  I can't click on anything either.

I wonder why some people have no problem while others do.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens in the next couple of days as I did join on the weekend.  Hopefully it's just that simple.

Browser features and pop ups?

Ladies, I'm wondering if maybe you have your pop up blocker enabled or you haven't got the latest version of some software you need to have the pages display properly.  I'll check with Melissa in the Research Department and ask if there are certain programs and browser features that need to be enabled to participate.

Stay tuned.

Another thought!

Well, you DO know that they aren't open forums like we have here, right?  The discussions there will be very focused and participants will be chosen by various criteria to suit specific research mandates.  It could even be that they aren't actually conducting a survey at this time!

Jayne

Community Manager

but I thought it odd that we couldn't even access our own members pages to put in our bios etc .... briefly with the link that Kaelee posted, I got a look at what the site looks like, and there is a member section to input an avatar, a sig. line .. bio info

so even if there isn't a survey or particular question on the boards right now, I wonder why we can't access our own member section ..... but then perhaps this is a tech issue where they have to build each member individually somehow?

I emailed them last week, and I didn't even get an automatic confirmation that they received my email ... that can't be good
