This was my first book by Lois Richer and I'm so very glad to have several more of her books on my shelves.
The story: To help her friend and mentor Glory Ann Cranbrook moves to Hawaii to help out at a children's clinic. It is only for the short term, after six months she is to leave for the Arctic to fulfil a promise to her dead mother. Her new patients touch her heart, especially one little boy, and there is someone else she falls for. Her boss. Dr. Jared Steele is a gifted doctor and he comes to care for Glory, but can't get over the murder of his son and wife.
I really enjoyed Healing Tides. It is not an easy book, as you can feel the characters' pain. But there are also moments of joy and love. Glory's faith and Jared's doubts are real and the author doesn't rush their discovery of their true path. Definitely a book to recommend.
