Heart’s Haven by Lois Richer (Love Inspired #435)

My second book by Lois Richer I liked even better. I might just have found another favourite author.

The story: Cassidy Preston has a dream, but before she opens her own restaurant she agrees to cook for a shelter in Chicago. Six months is all she plans for, but then Cassidy falls for her boss and discovers that her path might be a different one. Tyson St. John is not an easy man to love as he his haunted by things he has seen and couldn't prevent. The shelter was his sister's dream and after her death it is Ty's goal to make it work. However, he doesn't trust himself and fears for the safety of his young nephew. It is now up Cassidy to show that he needs to trust in God and in himself.

Cassidy is a heroine I could identify with. Her doubts, her dreams, her past and her chosen path are familiar and/or at least very convincing. I adored her! Ty is an interesting hero and he feels very real, but he is difficult to admire. His controlling manner, the way he acts/speaks before he listens and thinks is understandable, but not very likable. How he tries to change and how he suffers through his setbacks is very emotional to read though. I got involved in Cassidy and Ty's story, I wanted them to succeed and find the love they deserve. Very well done, Lois Richer! I happily recommend the book.
