I've been on a kick with disaster books and such so I couldn't resist this one about a trek into the Amazon jungle!
SYNOPSIS: Kate Collier doesn't believe her brother is dead and she's willing to do anything it takes to find him. Anything, including trekking through the jungle with bugs, crocodiles, snakes, and the very unpleasant guide, Slader. Kate's faith in God is the only thing that is keeping her going. Will she be able to reach Slader while they hunt for her missing brother? And just why are people trying to stop her from finding her brother?
MY THOUGHTS: I don't think I've read a book by Margaret Daley before and what a shame if her other books are this good! HEART OF THE AMAZON takes readers into the heart of the jungle on a wild ride in which the suspense doesn't let up till the very last page.
Kate is an easy heroine to relate to in many ways. I had to laugh while reading this, though. All I could think of is my husband's reaction to the scene with the bugs in that one Indiana Jones movie~ the scene he refers to as where he would have died if I'd had to deal with all those bugs! I had absolutely NO trouble with understanding Kate's fears about her surroundings in the jungle and could only admire her love for her brother~ the love that sent her into the jungle to begin with.
Margaret Daley deals very openly with faith in HEART OF THE AMAZON. Total dependence on God for every need is a key part of the story and Ms. Daley definitely provides food for thought. I will most definitely be looking for more of her books!

I think I might have this
I think I might have this one somewhere in my piles. The setting intrigued me.
I am sort of on a cold case kick.

There's
a sequel so now I have to check and see if I have it or not.... This one was really enjoyable. Isn't it funny how we get on kicks for certain types of books?
