Margrit Knight is lawyer who likes to run in Central Park usually at night. So when an intense tall stranger approaches her and says he wants her to defend him, she immediately thinks he is a stalker. She gets away from him rather quickly. Then she is dancing in a night club and he approaches her on the dance floor and all but begs her to defend him. Again she flees from him.
Alban Korund is a gargoyle who wants Margrit Knight to prove he is not the serial killer. In the process of finding who the real killer is Margrit meets an assortment of the Old Races ~ a vampire, dragon, djinn, selkies, and gargoyles.
Catie quickly gets you caught up in her story line and imagery. I have enjoyed all her books as either C.E. Murphy or Cate Dermody.
