A Heart's Refuge by Carolyne Aarsen Love Inspired #268 Sep 04

Talk about love in the workplace! What we have here is a travel photojournalist forced to work in an office for one year. If Rick Ethier can live in Okotoks, Alberta while shaping-up a newly acquired, failing magazine, his grandfather will get off his back and Rick will have the world to roam.

The magazine's editor, Becky Ellison, is used to the lackadaisical ways of the old publisher so of course, Rick and Becky are not on the same playing field at all. Throw into the mix the fact that Becky is looking for a God-fearing man who wants to put down deep roots in her hometown, but after seeing what the world holds, Rick isn't buying the ‘God takes care of you' line.

The fact that Rick had written a negative critique of Becky's only published novel, thereby bringing her fiction writing career to an abrupt halt was an added bit of excitement for me, as a writer. Let's just say that I was chomping at the bit for their first meeting.

With her down-to-earth style, Carolyne Aarsen uses these 2 polar opposites to create an emotional story that I was eager to delve into. This is the second time I've read this book and I found it just as enjoyable the second time around.
