Copied Blurb:
Book 3 in the Men Of August series
Will she bring the gift of acceptance, or will she break the bonds that have been forged through the fires of hell?
Heather's job was to guard Sam's body. As part of the team assigned to the protection of the August family, she had taken her job seriously. Until a madman learned she was Sam August's weakness. Until the past rose with deadly intent and surprising secrets.
Will Sam be able to deny his passion for this woman, or will the dark nightmares and sensuous desires that rage through them both be the cause of his destruction, and the destruction of the woman he loves?
My Review:
This is the third book in the very spicy and erotic August Brothers Trilogy by Lora Leigh. Before I read Heather's Gift, I had a feeling it was going to be the most emotional out of the three, and it was. When I read Sarah's Seduction, I saw Sam was the most tortured of the three brothers. My heart ached for him as I continued to read more about him in Heather's Gift. This was an amazing ending to the trilogy. Lora Leigh wrote an additional short story, that I understand ties up the three books, and I look forward to reading that. If you don't mind your reading spicy, and sometimes with more than one man, then I highly recommend the this book, and the entire trilogy!
My Rating: 4.5

I'm so glad that you liked the stories!
I never really thought that anything as erotic as this series could be so emotional, so much a story of love; all encompassing, all giving love. And not just the men for their women... the brothers really needed their women to be able to express the love that they felt for each other. Man, what a trip!

Yes I am a readalholic and I don't want the 12 step program!!!
Hey ladies!
Hey Christa!
I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!! The August Brother series were the first books I ever read by Lora Leigh and I am definitely will be reading more.
Hey Kalyko!
Honestly, I had no idea they were going to be so emotional either. When I sat down, I thought the reading was going to be much different(perhaps lighter??) than it was. Yes, it was VERY erotic, the scenes very well developed, with steam rising off the pages. But man, the emotions, especially in this last book....made my heart ache. The history revelations affected everyone. Yep, you said it right...."What a trip!" I can't wait to read more of Lora Leigh!
Hey Jeannie!
Wow!! You have autographed copies??? Color me green!!
The Breeds is my next series in the TBR pile by her. Can't wait!!

Hi Tammy .....
Nice review! ..... I'm glad you really liked this series .... I actually read her "novella" that is like an epilogue to the series, first ... and reading that intrigued me into wondering how the men had become the way they were, and I had to read the books
these too were my first books by LL ..... I've read only one other, her first in the Nauty series (which I haven't yet reviewed, I'll do that when I read the others this summer) ... I also have her Bound series to read, and I'll probably get into those soon ... I've noticed that her Nauty book which is not an Ellora's Cave but another publisher, isn't quite as "raw" as the August books .. not sure if this is because of the publisher or simply because the August books are early works by LL ...... and this may simply be just my impression .... in any case, her writing in the Nauty book is just as compelling ...
I can see from the reviews here, that I need to look at her Breeds series too, but there are so many of those that I'll have get them as eBooks or risk my dh's groans that the books are taking over the house! LOL

Hey Katherine!
Hey Katherine!
Thank you!! I actually haven't read the novella yet, but I have it here to read. But I can imagine how reading it would create a curiosity to read each of the couples story. I keep changing my mind on which story I liked the most. I think when I wrote the review for this book, I liked it the most. But then on retrospect, I may have enjoyed Cade's story more, as it was such a great introduction to everyone. I don't know....really hard to choose.
I think her Bound series books are novellas, so I bet those will read rather quickly. I think Kalyko reviewed them a short while back. I don't have those yet, nor the Nauiti books. I do, however, have three of her Breeds books from Elloras Cave. I am sure I will love them just as much as Lora Leighs August Brother books, since I love paranormal as well. I would be very curious to see if you enjoy them, since you haven't always read paranormals. I did see you liked the Dark Enchantments series from Nocturne, and I am so glad you did!!
Your dh groans when you bring books home too??
Heehee, mine too! And I just bought 13 more books at Savers/Value Village yesterday too....all while dh was rolling his eyes. But I pulled the "It's Mother's Day" next week card out, and he stopped rolling his eyes for a few minutes.

LL and paranormals ... and books!
well, silly me should have been doing work yesterday but instead decided to check out a friends booklist and spent a couple of hours putting together a list that I'd like to have ... most are early HP's from Janet Dailey, Carole Mortimer, Anne McAllister ... but there's 25 books!
.... and I just put in my eHarl order yesterday too and it had the max. 15 books
.... and I sure don't read fast enough to account for the books coming in to the books being read ... and heavens it's been ages since a book actually left the house! LOL ... so I think for some of my reads, I'm going to go with eBooks .... I'll probably do LL's Breeds that way as most of the Elora Caves come in tradesize ...
Yes, I did enjoy the Dark Enchantment series ... and I do plan on reading more ... just need to get in the mood .... lately I've been on a "Cowboy" fest .. those Lorelei James books were all 300 pgs + so I think I'll read for some shorter reads to help get my counts up
with the August books .... I think Marly's story has the most punch but I think part of that is the editing, it's much rougher .. the story isn't as polished as the other two .... and in this case, I think it's a good thing .... Sara's story was okay and though I loved Brock, I loved Cade and Sam more ...... and yes, Heather's story really hit the emotions ... it was very well done and a great wrap up to the series ..... as I mentioned the novella that follows is more of an epilogue, and one that really leaves you satisfied that these couples and this family is going to make it
I'm looking forward to your reviews on the Breeds

Hey Katherine!
Hey Katherine!
Well, certainly talking about books, reading books, sorting books, buying books, making book lists, organizing books, etc....is way more appealing than work!
And gaining an additional 40 books, like you, is the book lover's way of life. I don't read fast enough to account for all my incoming reads either, but I just gotta have them. Currently, I am lucky to get 9 books read in a month. But there are a few months here and there I can get 10 or 11 books read.
I would suggest getting the LL books as ebooks as well. The Trade Size books are so expensive.
I can't remember how many books you ended up reading last year?? I think I rounded off at 102. And I had hoped to read a bit more than that this year to compensate for the incoming books. Since you like cowboy books too, did you ever see the cowboy ebook bundle they have in the ebook boutique? I picked it up back in December, but still need to read it. There is a nice variety of stories in there.
You summed up what I was thinking about the August brothers perfectly! I loved Cade and Sam more than Brock as well. Not to say I didn't like Brocks story, as I very much enjoyed it. And it helped set up Sam's story, and the darkness Sam felt. I liked the mystery/suspense that began in the first book, and was completely taken by surprise in the final book. I really had no idea.
Talk to you soon!
Tammy
