Jamie is asked to escort, Axia, the Heriess to her betrothed. In order to have a little freedom after having been locked away for years, Axia and her cousin Frances decide that they will switch places and Frances will pretend to be the Heiress until they arrive. Axia causes trouble along the way for Jamie, she is a thorn in his side. She is having so much fun being free and doing things she never had a chance to do before, probably never will again. Jamie is supposed to be wooing the Heiress so that he can restore honor to his family but he is fighting his feelings for Axia the whole time. Frances is kidnapped. Everyone must work together to save her & Jamie who has also been captured. The story takes another twist when her father shows up & Jamie finds out that the one he is married to is the real Heiress. She sacrifices herself and goes willingly with her father to be given to her betrothed.
