Any of you who want rain I'll be only to glad to send Dolly your way!! (If only I could). And if you haven't heard Dolly is suppose to be a category 1 hurricane tomorrow or Wednesday and I am in the possible path but on the northern edge right now. However it is suppose to make land fall Wednesday around 1:00 on the lower Texas coast and even then we may get a lot of rain. For those who are not familiar with hurricanes a category 1 has winds of from 74 to 95 mph. Experts are suggesting everybody get ready just in case which includes bottled water, food that does not need cooking or refrigeration, batteries and flashlight and battery operated radios. It does put my brother in the projected path.
So begins another 4 months of worry. Fortunately I permanent hurricane shutters on my windows and doors so I don't have to worry about boarding them up.
To those of you who live in Louisianna, Florida, or in states along the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico I pray that we all can have a safe season.

Hope Dolly doesn't do too much damage.
I don't want any more rain here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but I hope you don't get pulverized by Dolly. Keeping Texas and the south in my thoughts and prayers.
Last Sunday 13th, we got hail which did my garden in but at least I don't rely on it for my living. Some poor farmers in the southern part of the province got their total crops wiped out by golf -ball size hail. We don't have to worry about hurricanes here --just tornados. So far touch wood there haven't been any really bad ones this year.

Sometimes tornadoes and hail can be worse than hurricanes because there is no advance warming. Prayers for those farmers who lost their crops.

Ellen
My prayers are with you! I have never been in a hurricane, but living on a major river, I have lived through major floods, and here in Oklahoma, we're in Tornado Ally! Be careful, and take care of yourself through Dolly!

Rain
We've had enough in Wales this summer to float the Ark so, no thanks to more rain. That said, I feel a bit of wimp knowing what's in store for you. Fingers crossed for a quiet season for all of you in the flight path of summer storms.

Oh, Ellen, my thoughts are certainly with you....
I'm the one who lives in Indiana that you blogged with during the tornado followed by severe flooding in my area.
I'm glad you have shutters and a stock of emergency paraphenelia. Hopefully you won't need much of it at all. I'll be praying Dolly skirts around your area. And I'll be thinking of your brother also.

Just heard on the news
that Dolly is expected to hit land around noon today near the Texas-Mexico border. Hope she doesn't do much damage. Please let us know how you fared.

Dolly is stalled off the coast and has been for several hours now. The rain and wind are just steadily pounding the same area instead of moving away. I am getting rain here 150 miles from the center of the storm and they are predicting a few more hours of no movement. It is 11:00 am here and we have already had several inches of rain. I am watching the weather channel and the eye wall just began to come ashore near Brownsville with 60-70 miles per hour. Altho everybody seems to have lost power this is good news, because they were predicting as much as 110 mph winds. I'm probably boring you all.
