 Description:

Kathie Cassidy had been in love with her sister’s fiancé, Joe Reed, since the day she met him.  It was a terrible secret to live with and they had had a few slips.  A few stray kisses.  Now that her sister was happily married to another man, would Joe ever get over her sister?  Could Joe ever love her?  Would the scandal that they had made in their town ever die down?  And then there was her brother Jax, who was a police officer, and was fiercely protective of his sisters.  He wanted to knock sense into Joe.  Could they all co-exist?  She ran away right after her sister’s wedding but now, Jax had sent Joe to bring her home.  What would happen now?

 Critique:

What a surprise I had when I started reading this book.  It turns out that I read Kathie’s sister’s story in 2006.  I read about the breakup with Joe as well as her sister Kate’s marriage to Ben.  I was so happy to revisit these characters because I really enjoyed the first story, A Little Bit Engaged.

The characters were charming as they were in the first book.  We get to follow Kate’s story a little more through Kathie’s book.  Jax, the brother, is very over protective but it’s almost funny at times.

The story seemed very consistent and made me smile more than once.  The dialog between the characters is what’s precious in these stories.  Also, the way the Cassidy family rally around one another and protect one another is priceless.  There’s nothing like a good story about family values.

The end of the story is priceless when Jax brings Joe to his little sister.  In case someone has this gem in their TBR I won’t say more.  It’s well worth reading.

So far, 2008 is off to a great start.  I’ve read some pretty amazing books.

I highly recommend this book.

3rd book in that series

There is also a third book in that series.  It's the little sister, Kim's story.  I don't have that one.  I may have to make some calls to UBS's myself to try to track it down.

This one sounds good.  I have been reading a lot of great reads lately too at the start of the year.

I know the feeling... Me

I know the feeling... Me it's the last few days.  I worked so much over time that I'm too tired to read.

I missed out on Mr Right Next Door

No more excuses, just READ!

Mr right next door

Who's story is that?  I just read 2 of them.  I read A Little bit Engaged and this one.

Kel - you're the one that mentioned the sister's story

It came out last May (I must have been asleep) and that's its name

sorry I'm asleep... too much Overtime...

Yes!  You're right... I don't have it.  I just didn't remember what it was called.  I've wished I would have the brother's story and that's why I was confused.  I'm not sure she wrote it.

Jax Cassidy's story

... is called Someone to Watch Over Me and is under the Steeple Hill Women's Fiction imprint: it is also still available and definitely an excellent story to go along with the others.
And Kim's story is such a blast!  It was actually my first of Teresa Hill's (aka Sally Tyler Hayes) stories and I went backlist hunting.

Jax's Cassidy's story

Thank you for that... I really appreciate that.  I saw the book when I did a search on Teresa Hill but I had no clue it was related.  Wow!  Now, I just have to get Kim's story and I'll have them all.

Kel .....

I went to the UBS this afternoon (hadn't been since before Thanksgiving! Surprised ) and I found Mr. Right Next Door  for $1.50 ..... it's brand new, doesn't even looks like it's been read ... so I picked it up for you ... so don't look any further for it

I will have a new list soon ..... very very soon  .... John is grumbling about the TBR encrouching on the dining room again (just cleared that for Christmas!)   ... so I need to shift some of the read ones out!  LOL
