High Seas to High Society

I picked up this Harlequin Historical mainly because of the back cover copy, which describes a Duke "happening upon" the heroine swimming naked and his curiosity being piqued by a curling scar on her thigh.  On reading the novel, however, I was disappointed to find that this intriguing scenario is NOT the setup for the plot, but rather is a scene that happens nearly halfway through the book, when the hero and heroine have already met, flirted, and made bodily contact a number of times.

Nevertheless, despite the misleading copy, this is a gripping read that features a brooding, tortured, Duke and the pirate's daughter bound to repay a debt he doesn't know she owes him.  Who can resist that kind of premise? Not me!

Jenster, I read this book

Jenster, I read this book and enjoyed it. There certainly was a huge underlying conflict between the hero and heroine - I had to keep reading to see what would happen when the truth was discovered!
