This book worked despite the odds. Why despite the od
ds? Because the H has just suffered a coronary and is looking for a stress-free place to relax when he decides to buy...on sight...a log house owned by a 7 mo pregnant woman who makes him uncomfortable. Not only does he decide to buy it, but he actually moves in and starts taking care of her. If he's so worried about having more heart problems, then the last place he should be is with a woman who could go into labor at any time. (It's possible - I have 4 kids and never made it to the 9th month with any of them!)
So this is where it would start to get unrealistic. I mean she's defenseless, vulnerable, and can't even tie her own shoes and she lets a man move in not knowing anything about him except that he doesn't have a job.
But why did it work? Because when Dixie Browning introduces us to the characters, she lets us see what they really think. Then she lets them accept each other despite their reservations. She eases us into their situations, a bit at a time, so that it's a natural progression from start to end. By the time I finished the last page, the story was plausible and perfect.

Does the guy on the cover represent your mental picture of the hero the author has penned. Yes. He definitely looks like the CEO of an international company but I an also seem him frazzled by a crying woman.
Does he fit the story? Yes
Does he suit the heroine? Yes
Would he suit you if the adventure was yours? He's a little too good looking for me. I like men with more lines...I mean character...in their faces.
If you were casting a movie of this book, who would play the hero? Patrick Dempsey
