Holly's Summer So Far...

P6050071.JPG

Well, the house is done!!  Windows and siding have been up now for a while, but we've finally got the windows all finished on the inside.  They needed built out, stained and polyurethaned.  It was a huge project, but I'm so happy with the results!

Here are some pics:

Before we resided, we lined the house with new pavers so we wouldn't chip the new siding when weed-whacking!

The side of the house with the old siding removed!

New siding's back up...you can see a bit of the fence we put in last year towards the back.

Here's the new front windows...  We've been furnishing this room from mainly estate sales.  See the carpet?  That's my new $20 buy!  Some of the Ethan Allen furniture was my dh's parents, but other pieces, we've been adding as we find it.

New curtains, new window in the back room...I sewed these.

Now that the windows are done, it's time to get back to our normal summer chores...and for me, that means more wood splitting.  Here's some of what I've done already this year!

And we finished just in time because the garden's really getting ready to go.  Here's the yellow squash...we'll be eating some this week!!

 Green Peppers!

Tomatoes!

But it's not all food...my day lilies and lavender are looking great in my little garden.  You can make out some chives that have flowered and the salvia, too!

I'm so looking foward to getting back to a more normal rhythm here!  Oh, I'm glad we did the siding and windows...it should really make a difference on our heating this winter (most of the windows didn't have any, or hardly any, insulation), but I'm looking forward to being a bit more relaxed!

I've heard about the project

And WOW!  Looks really nice.  I love the front room.

That's a lot of wood - do you use all of it?

Marcie

Marcie

Marcie,

I will confess, I love the way wood looks.  The oak floors in that front room are original to the house, but my in-laws always had them carpeted.  We were thrilled to see what was underneath!  Everything is hardwood floors except the family room and our bedroom.  And yes, we use the room, but spend most of our time in the family room.
