It is 11pm here in Los Angeles, and it is 78 degrees. 

It is 83 degrees in the room I am sitting in.

Our brush fires seem to have started early this year. 

We have been having this up and down weather.....last weeek was upper 60's mid 70's....this week upper 80's.....and low 90's.

Record breaking heat today.

Then there are the tornado's in the mid western US... earth quakes in China and Cyclone in  (?)

Terri,

Things have been weird in North Carolina too. We had tornados last weekend, then one day is 60, then it;s 80, then back to cooler.  One moring it was 43 and the high that day was 84.  DH and i are both from So Cal, and we look forward to our yearly visit each summer to escape the humidity here for a bit!

Without attempting to be too "woo-woo" for some of the folks here at eHarlequin, I've always undersood stuff like this to be a form of intercession like the Scriptures discuss in Romans 8 where the Bible states something to the effect of, "the earth groans under the effects of sin, sickness, and disease."  Just as people "groan and travail" in the Spirit, so too does the Earth, and more so, as the trump of the Lord 's resounding draws ever closer.

its mankinds comeuppance for centuries of abusing their poor mother earth.

We think we can keep raping and pillaging the planet and we expect her not to strike back.  Sooner or later there has to be concequences.

Very good point!!!  I agree with that, also.  That (the raping, pillaging, "passing the buck", etc.) is part of the sin to which I was alluding.

HockeyJock, I agree that all this strange weather, disasters and other things happening in the world have a lot to do with that verse.

I know that I'm "dating" myself here -- but I come from the era that "glamourised' Soap Operas -- beginning with GH and the whole "Luke & Laura" thing at the campus disco that we now would term as "date rape".

about the whole Luke and Laura thing, is that years after the rape, they started calling it a "seduction".

A few years ago, the revisited that story line and called it what it was. They kind of redemed themselves with that.

I was about 22 when the L & L thing was going on.  I think they changed daytime tv forever.
