Holy Smokes by Katie MacAlister

This is the fourth book in the Aisling Greey Guardian novels. It is the best one yet. I have loved each and every book in this series and look forward to reading more.

Blurb:

I'm Aisling Grey, but you can call me 'frustrated'.

The dragon of my dreams--ubersexy Drake Vireo, the wyvern of the green dragons--has finally decided to make an honest woman of me. That is, if we ever make it to the wedding at the same time! Being left at the altar may have cooled my jets, but not my passion...a good thing when Drake disappears adn its up to me to find him.

Most Brides just have in-laws to worry about. me? I have warring dragons, ticked off demon lords, eternal dammnation, and a mage who wants to challenge me for an otherworldly position I don't even want. At least, Jim, my doggie demon, is always at my side. He's never let me down....yet.

This book had alot more in it that the past Guardian novels. The realtionship between Drake and Aisling is on a more firmer ground and both are confident of each other's feelings. The concept of a dark power talking to Aisling to entice her to use it was a good idea as it revealed the strength of character that Aisling has and how she is able to hold the power inside her and not unleash it on the world. The conversations Ailing had with the power was sometimes very funny and the power sometimes sounded very snarky and sarcastic.

The wedding or should I say weddings as one of them always doesn't turn up each time it is rescheduled or circumstances force the family to change the time of the wedding to further in the day and week. It is hilariously funny. Paula, Aisling step-mother (her stepfather's wife) behaviour is outraeusly funny and her reaction she accidently meets the 'devil' is laugh out loud funny. A secret is revealed regarding Drake's family which causes repercussions to be felt from all sides.

Aisling has a lot on her plate and I don't know how she manages to deal with each and every problem in her life. Her snide combacks and retorts with Jim and other beings is reminiscent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Aisling's mate status to the wyvern of the green dragons comes to questions due to the events at the ending in the previous book.

The sex cenes between Aisling and Drake are again Hot and Steamy. During the reading of the book, Aisling is revealed to be embarking on a new role which is a surprise to her and all but which she categorically denies til it is confirmed without a doubt. Her feelings regarding this new role (besides wife, wyvern, demon lord, guardian) are not explored as they could have been. I hope there will be more Aisling Grey novels in the future. I have loved this series a lot.
