Home for the Holidays

Vincent Everett has set out to ruin man whom he believes is responsible for his brother's death.  While George Ascott, head of a successful shipping line, is gone, Vincent buys up all his debts and then evicts Larrisa and her brother from their home.  However, Vincent goes along when his secretary delivers the notice and after one look at Larrisa, Vincent knows he has to have her.  So he moves Larrisa, Thomas and their two servants into his home.  Vincent plans The Seduction but things don't go according to plan and Larrisa is seduced early on.  It's Christmastime and she talks him into his first Christmas tree; they are celebrating Christmas when Larrisa and Thomas receive the best Christmas ever, the return of their father.  At that point, Vincent's ruthlessness is revealed and George wisks off his daughter and son to Portsmouth.  Will Vincent be able to win Larrisa's love back and what will he have to do to get her back?

May problem with this book is not the plot or characters; it is with the reading level of the book.  I thought it was simplistic and written at the high school level (sorry, my teaching experience is coming out here).  I have read Johanna Lindsey before (and am going to blog another book) and have not run across this before.  For this reason I give the book a C+.Cool
