I rarely go through these streaks where I think… I have to write a blog? About what? I can’t think of a single thing to say. It does happen, but its not usual. Most of the time
I have about twenty posts I wish I could put up a day. Yes, a day!
Makes it rather hard to pick and choose which one to go with.
For instance, I’m helping Harlequin
make their goal of 100,000 books read and reviewed this year(not just
Harlequin books, any we read) at which time they will then donate a
HUGE quantity of books to a needing group(don’t know who yet). Since I
signed up I have been constantly about 8 books behind in posting. I’ve
been trying to post them every other day but suddenly I’ve been on a
reading stinge and wham… I’m not just a little behind but WAY
behind!!!!
I was thinking this week I’d post only reviews. That would eat up five
reviews and well you know, catch me up a bit. But that hasn’t worked
because somehow, other posts screamed louder to be posted when I went
to click the publish button.
This morning is case in point. I WAS going to post a book review one way or another(even the books are yelling as to who gets posted first… I have several books I so excited to tell you about! SEVERAL) But then I had this email in my inbox about Shelfari’s newest feature–their
bookshelves that we put on the sidebars of our blogs will contain our
reviews! Just hover over the book and whala! You can see what we
thought of the book!
Is that just too cool or what???? I love it. Take a peek at my sidebar!(These gadgets are at my main blog-- www.nicolereising.com/blog)
Yes, I’m a gadget geek and I’m proud of it. Especially when you
combine my love for books, writing, sharing, convenience… I’m sure I’m
missing some adjectives there but… you get the idea.
So instead of posting about one of the books I’ve read I’m letting you
all know about the hover feature. The books on the shelf rotate
periodically automatically, though I can set this up however I want. I
loved Shelfar before… and it just keeps getting better!
Oh and there was another gadget that I discovered yesterday… ShareThis. I tried it out on Jill Shalvis’s blog (she always has funny posts… I love reading them first thing in the morning… sets you up for a good day with a great mood!) I sent one of her posts out to a couple of friends and it worked wonderfully! I HAD to get it.
So I did. Check it out! The cool feature is below every post! The little green button.
*Sigh* So anyhow… I’ve obviously have not been posting my book
reviews this week, not even every other day! And this bugs me because I
have several authors I really want to tell you to read. Like, Loreth Anne White’s series that I couldn’t put down… couldn’t! Just ask my family. Or Kate Hardy’s
book I got for free over the holiday’s as an ebook from Harlequin and
discovered a new voice I loved! I mean, there are several here that I
really want to tell you about. But… time… finding the time!
I think maybe I will post on weekends for a while… so I can get the
book review pile whiddled down to just one or two. We’ll see. The thing
is, the problem isn’t whether I post those days or not, it’d be
sticking to only posting the posts already written!
Have a greet Wednesday Everyone!

Happy Wednesday!
I'm looking forward to reading your reviews!!
I have two I need to add, but eh...I've been in a bit of a blogging slump lately. I guess it's because I've been writing and not "doing". When I do, I get less writing done, but I have more to blog about. And vice versa. I hope that doesn't sound too nutty.
Happy Wednesday!

Hi Cole - I hear you on the blogging backlog
when you read between one and six books a day like I do, it happens
very VERY quickly, so this year I'm going the post-it route - I sit
down with a post-it quickly before I dig in to the next book and jot
down a blurb and my reactions - bullets, single words that will (or
not) trigger more extensive memories and reactions when I actually get
around to typing them into blog doc.
Then when I copy and paste into my book review, it can be edited, added to or subtracted from before I hit post comment
Because as someone who's been blogging since January 2006 (which means I've blogged one thousand nine hundred and thirty four
books in greater or less detail
)
I can guarantee you that if you don't keep up to date, it will become a
chore, and that will be reflected in your blog and in your reading mood
Keep up the good work

I hear ya
I hear ya Cora, I can find myself doing the same thing. Having the book reviews can help me out a lot of times... I write them up and then save them. Thus I can post them when I really want to concentrate on writing.

You are sooooo
You are sooooo right Sadhbh! I found that out last year. I've done pretty good this year about actually getting them written up not long after I've read them... but I like to only post once a day. Especially if I have a book/author that I just absolutely loved. I want to spread the word. I want to give them 'their moment in the spotlight' so to speak. And that's when I run into issues---my brain has tons it likes to jabber about too.
Keeping it quite sometimes is not easy.
And on your writing/reading... you absolutely amaze me! I have a hard time keeping up with your reviews much less understanding how you read so much!
