How to Catch a Groom by Holly Jacobs
Harlequin Duets #84 – September 2002
.
.
Jilted at the altar, Seth Rutherford agrees to go ahead with the wedding reception and proceeds to get bombed. The only highlight to the party is that he finally realizes who his wedding planner is; she’s the cute gal who leant him a transformer for his science project in high school. Desdemona Smith had a huge crush on Seth in school but he’d barely noticed her. Now she finds herself giving his sloshed self a ride home and finding him all too attractive and not at all sorry that the wedding didn’t happen. Of course, she’s angry with the ex-bride Kate, and believes Seth deserves much much better; that is until Seth fesses up and says that he’d never really been in love with Kate, there’s was a union that seemed logical. After all they were both scientists and worked together and they hadn’t even slept together. So Desi is disappointed that adorable but nerdy Seth doesn’t have a romantic bone in his sexy body. When Desi’s assistant leaves her in the lurch the following weekend, she calls Seth to fill in, she’s figures he owes her one for the ride home and helping him not look foolish at his reception. Seth hasn’t been able to stop fantasying about Desi, which he finds utterly confusing. Both fight their attraction believing that the fact they are opposites make them a terrible match. That is until Desi shows Seth how great it is to let go and laugh a little.
Seth is the jilted groom from Bonnie Tucker’s “The Great Bridal Escape” and it was wonderful reading how he stumbles into the love. Seth’s always shied away from exuberant personalities; his parents were always overwhelming with emotions. So it was hilarious watching him find his way with the very flamboyant disorganized Desdemona. Desi is a huge romantic, thus her career choice. Knowing how straight laced Seth has always been, she’s very touched when he tries very hard to be romantic for her. These two make a great pair. This is a charming, cleverly witty love story that was fun to read.

Holly Jacobs --- I chose this book because it's the sequel to Bonnie Tucker's "The Great Bridal Escape"; this story being the jilted groom. Bonus is that Holly Jacobs is a new to me author! .... I will definitely be pulling out more of Ms. Jacobs backlist.

Duets
I only started reading Duets last year. They are a funny, fast read. After reading your first review I thought the second story would be about Seth and Cara.

In the first book ....
Cara takes Tony off the hook (though he had intended to tell her he couldn't marry her because he fell in love with Kate) ..... but seems Cara had fallen in love with someone else too .... so we know at the end of the first book that Cara is taken and not by Seth ...... I'm actually glad it worked that way because Cara was too sedate, Seth needed someone to rock his boat!
... and Desi does do that!

Cara's book
I think I found Cara's book called A Baby... Maybe and How to Hunt a Husband. Again another Duet with Bonnie Tucker and Holly Jacobs

Oh thanks!
That's right ..... Bonnie Tucker's "A Baby... Maybe?" is Cara's story ..... and Holly Jacob's "How to Hunt a Husband" is Shannon O'Malley's story, she's Kate's sister ..... I'm going to have to pull this one out of my TBR ... thanks!

Holly Jacobs
If you happen to have this mini series by Holly Jacobs in your TBR, it's great: Perry Square: The Royal Invasion. they were published under the line Silhouette Romance. The books are called: Once upon a princess, once upon a prince and once upon a king.
